Holiday Post: Countdown Timeline

I will FINALLY be going away for a holiday next Tuesday after months (literally months!) of trying to find the right time to go, so I’ll be doing a few holiday themed posts over the next couple of weeks to share with you how I go about preparing for my getaway.

In the meantime, here’s how my next few days are planned out:

Day Five – Body Prep and Luggage

Hair removal! I’m booked in for a leg and bikini wax and a gel pedicure.  I’ve never had a gel pedicure before, but as my feet get a bit of a battering when I’m away due to chlorine and sand, I thought it’d be a good idea to go for something a bit long-lasting.

I also need to buy some suitable luggage as I want to invest in a hard case rather than my usual soft one, especially as I want to take my jammy camera away with me which is a bit bulky and I’m terrified of it getting battered in a soft case.  I’m thinking TK Maxx will be my best bet.

Day Four – Shopping

Tomorrow I’ll be mainly stocking up on bits and bobs that I’ll need when I go away such as a new bikini (which I buy every year without fail, yet only ever wear my tatty old lilac suede one for some inexplicable reason) and some comfy linen trousers to lounge about in.

I’ll also be putting together a list of books to take away with me and updating my Kindle accordingly as well as filling my iPhone with summery songs.

Day Three – Getting Organised

This will be the day when I start thinking about what I’ll need to take with me.  I didn’t do this last year and instead panic-packed so I ended up taking seven pairs of jeans with me and no underwear at all…

I’ll also spend this day putting together a rough idea of what blogs to schedule for publishing whilst I’m away.

Day Two – Panic and Freak Out

My dad will be moving in to my home whilst I’m away (as it made more sense since I have six pets – so rather than put them all into pet care, he’s going to look after them for me instead) so I’ll be putting together a strict list of instructions for him, as well as stocking up on plenty of food for the fur babies so I don’t come home to find Dad and Dog sharing steak and chips.

This will also be the day when the paranoia creeps in and I start convincing myself that I’ve forgotten something really important.  Maybe like underwear…

Day One – Pack and Blog Like Nobody’s Watching

Usually by this point I’ve taken on a ‘who gives an eff’ approach and even started resenting the whole holiday thing a little bit.  So I just chuck everything into the (hopefully hard top) suitcase and hope for the best.  I think as long as I have a bikini, skincare, make-up and books then everything else is flexible….right??

Now I’ll get my blog on and start writing up everything for the next week whilst I’m away.  I’ll aim to do seven posts but I won’t just blog for the sake of blogging, so we shall see.

Day Zero – Leavin’ On a Budget Airline Jet Plane

The Devil May Care attitude will kick-in and I’ll start doing silly things like buying croissant at the airport even though I’m not hungry and weighing myself down with magazines from the painfully priced WH Smith.  I’ll be flying from Gatwick this year – somewhere I’ve never flown from – so really that’s a holiday in itself…

Any helpful suggestions on how to approach the nightmare before holiday?  Please share!

Haha these pictures cracked me up 🙂 The only other thing I can think of is ideas of anything you might want to pick up in duty free, always worth planning! Otherwise you sound very organized 🙂 Have a great time! Xxx

      ha ha 😀 thanks lovely!

Ooooo yeah! That’s something that I hadn’t thought of; it’ll inevitably read along the lines of: make-up palette, make-up palette, fags, make-up palette….so I’m sure there’ll be plenty of make-up palette reviews on my return…xx
