T-H-X Turn Up the Heat Digital Straighteners

Firstly, mahoosive apologies to the lovely PR who sent me these T-H-X Turn Up the Heat Digital Straighteners* donkeys years ago and didn’t nag me for a review, of which has been a very long time coming! I’ve had these for at least 6 months and have used them regularly since their arrival, but I’ve only managed to get all the images together (and some fairly decent shots that I hope show their ability) recently, so here is my long overdue review.

T-H-X Turn Up the Heat Digital Straighteners (or “straighteners”, as they’ll now be known as during the rest of this review) are medium sized straighteners made with titanium-ceramic plates, variable heat settings up to 235 degrees, 15 second heat up and an extra long swivel cord to make straightening a breeze.

I’m by no means a straightening expert; I don’t have ghds and up until recently I’ve avoided straightening as the poker straight look didn’t really suit my long face.  However, since the arrival of my fringe I’ve been able to enjoy a straighter style, and this tool has been a godsend.

Straightening really has come on leaps and bounds since my last experience of straightening which is at least five years ago.  The machines are easier to use with a lot less faff and are most importantly, much easier to control.  Whilst the T-H-X ones were my first for a while, I have since tried quite a few others so I can confidently do a comparison.

The best thing about these is how easily they move through the hair.  I’ve found others tend to snag hair or leave hair with that ‘clamped’ look where there are little ledges from where you’ve started the straightening.  These are so easy to use and the swivel cord makes a huge difference when styling the tricky to reach back of the head.

The variable heat settings are brilliant as they ensure that you don’t go overboard with heat if you have fine hair like mine; I find I can get a good finish at 160 degrees, but obviously thicker/curlier hair would probably need a higher setting.  The controls are easy to use with two buttons to take the heat up or down.

The last thing worth mentioning about these is the case they come in which not only makes storage easy and convenient, but also converts to a mat for the straighteners to sit on during use which I personally think is a brilliant addition.  I’m really impressed with these straighteners and I do think they comfortably rival much more established and pricier brands. My hair is left looking incredibly glossy (I have used a serum too that’s amazing, which I’ll be reviewing soon), very smooth and the style lasts. The best part is that they’re currently on special at Tesco down to £29.50 from £60 which is a massive saving.  I should mention that these pictures were taken several hours after I styled my hair.

I haven’t heard of this brand either. I love the idea of the display and the heat settings. It’s incredibly cheap though. Makes me a little skeptical though.

I have read some more and there’s quite a few positive reviews. So worth the look I guess.

I know what you mean as I would be skeptical too, but it’s worth noting that it’s on a special offer at the moment, so it’s seriously cheap now, whereas usually it’s just fairly cheap 🙂 xx
