Smashbox Autumn 2013: Fade to Black Collection

Smashbox Fade to Black Full Collection

I’m developing a bit of a crush on Smashbox, as I’ve only recently started dabbling with their products, but several of them have immediately before firm, everyday favourites, such as Brow Tech and the Halo Blush – more on those later! I’ve now experienced two of the Smashbox collections, and what’s impressed me each time is how they’re a brand who don’t like to bombard their customers with lots  of new products, and instead tend to carefully edit a collection so there are a few key pieces to keep your make-up current and on-trend.

Smashbox Fade to Black On Model

Fade to Black is kind of self explanatory; it’s extremely autumnal, a little bit gothic and very, very vampy with lots of tones leaning towards the darker side of the shade spectrum.  It consists of two new eye palettes, two new shadow liners and two new lipstick shades.  Technically all products could be worn together to create a seriously punchy look that isn’t too OTT, but if you’re like me then you’ll want to concentrate on either the eyes or the lips, so I would suggest using one of the eye palettes with the lighter lipstick shade (Cognac), or making use of of the vampier shade (Black Cherry) and teaming that with either a shadow liner or just going bare-eyed with a single coat of mascara.  That clean eyed/vampy lip look was definitely popular at LFW earlier this year which will inevitably result in it being copied on the high street come autumn.

The two new Fade to Black palettes are available in Fade In (gold pearl to safari green) or Fade Out (soft peach to deep plum) meaning there’s a cool and warm option depending on which you’d prefer.  These will be £32 each and you get seven shades in each palette.

The Fade to Black Waterproof Shadow Liners are available in Blackest Black or Black Gold, and they seriously do not budge once in position! These are £17 each.

The Fade to Black Be Legendary Lipsticks are Cognac (warm nude) and Black Cheery (sheer berry) and are £15.50 each.
