Style and Colour at House of Rush Piccadilly

A few months ago I was bang slap in the middle of the whole cancer fear (I’m sure you know what I’m talking about, but if you’re not a regular reader and your curiosity is piqued, have a look at this post here) that completely consumed me and turned me into a bit of a depressive; everything was bleak and black and I was convinced I was about to leave Teddy without a mum.  All very dramatic and thankfully unnecessary, but during that time I visited House of Rush for a fabulous cut and colour in the hopes that it would lift my spirits, which it didn’t (seriously, nothing could) and so it’s taken me quite a while to write up the post.  To give you an idea, here’s me waiting for my colour to set – I took this to put on Instagram but I looked so miserable that I couldn’t bring myself to post it! Also, how long is my face??! Both literally and metaphorically…

House of Rush is on Piccadilly and it’s a beautiful, open and airy space that has the whole “high-class haircut” vibe just right; it’s luxurious and possibly a tad pretentious, but the staff are warm, friendly and couldn’t do enough for you which makes for an inviting experience all round.  I had my appointment with Lisa-Marie who had a long and detailed discussion with me to find out exactly what I wanted and needed from the appointment before finding a meeting point between these two elements.  As I’m a busy mum who often cannot be bothered with hair styling, we agreed keeping the hair long enough to tie-up was key, whilst still giving it enough of a cut and restyle to make it into an actual style again – it was a bit of a balancing act that Lisa-Marie nailed perfectly.

Of the two treatments I had, my favourite was the colour as Lisa-Marie did a fantastic job at lifting and brightening my hair so that it looked fresh and glossy whilst still very natural.  I really liked the fact that she discussed with me what sort of blonde I like (I always go for caramel tones and avoid anything too warm if I can) and she mixed up the colour to create a shade that is pretty much spot-on for what I’d put together myself if I had the ability to do such a thing – I really loved the colour I was left with.  I had a lovely experience at House of Rush and I’d recommend trying it out if you’re particular about the sort of colour and style you like as they really do listen and executive based on your specific requests, something that can be tricky to find at salons!
