Bespoke Lipstick Service with Cosmetics A La Carte

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting Cosmetics a La Carte in Knightsbridge to have a mixing session to create my perfect lipstick.  It was such a fun experience – I then went for a facial afterwards so talk about a great day all round!

The Cosmetics a La Carte Bespoke Lipstick service involves literally mixing up various colours and finishes to create your perfect shade in your preferred format.  I brought along some of my favourite shades for inspiration, which I would definitely recommend doing to relay your colour.

I have a lipstick shade that I really like but find a little too blue-leaning, so I wanted a warmer take on this.  We mixed and matched and eventually came up with a mix of Sugar from the Moisture Plus Lipstick line – a gorgeous, mid-toned pink and Ice from the Lustre Lipstick line, with the result being…you’ve guessed it…Sugar Ice!

The resulting lipstick was a beautifully, slightly cool pink that sat just above the mid range which you can see accurately presented in the swatch.  Unfortunately, I had a nail polish break in my bag and get all over the lipstick which obviously turned the colour and texture, and even more unfortunately this occurred before I took pictures of it on my lips.  VERY ANNOYING.  I’ve included a picture of wearing it but as you can see, it isn’t much like the swatch anymore.

I would definitely recommend trying this service out if you’d like to create your own lipstick colour, or in fact pretty much any make-up item can be created through the service.  On reflection, I would’ve gone for a slightly different finish as the lustre line has shimmer too it which I don’t like in paler lipsticks, but I was so into the colour that I didn’t give much thought to the finish, so my advice would be to pay attention to both aspects of the process.  I really rate Cosmetics a La Carte as a brand as they have the most astounding collection of colours and products; if you’re a make-up junkie like me then you need to check them out – just during the writing of this post I’ve already zoned in on several things I need in my collection! The Cosmetics a La Carte Bespoke Lipstick service costs £50.  More info can be found here – link.
