Aaaages ago I did an extremely popular write-up on an eBay shop that stocked brilliantly formulated skincare. The shop in question was taken over by SR Skincare who have been expanding it ever since, resulting in a fantastic shop packed full of market-leading and cutting edge formulations at very purse-friendly prices. I was keen to try one of their peel kits, so they very kindly sent me a set of their Mandelic / Salicylic Acid peel kit with a strength of 10%. This particular peel set targets both spots and acne scars, making it ideal for my skin type.
I’ve been tweaking and fine-tuning my skincare routine quite a bit this year, and I do think I’m getting there with regards to my spots. My skin is looking the best it’s looked in quite some time and I believe a lot of that is down to the use of this kit, which seems to have cut down my breakout rate massively, plus the spots I do get don’t hang around long thanks to a couple of other things I’m doing in my routine which I’ll delve into in another post. The peel kit comes with the peel itself, a neutralising gel and some great quality cotton pads. I use a brush to apply the peel as I think it’s a little more gentle, but I have used cotton pads to apply peels when I was younger (I’ve always dabbled in peels as I’ve always found them to work) and they work just as effectively, albeit a little more aggressively. I leave the peel on for about 5 minutes then I apply a thick layer of the neutralising gel before I wash it off with a soft cloth and tepid water. I then finish with a moisturising mask (either Avene or Bioderma) but you don’t have to, I just like to add a bit of moisture back that’s been stripped away by the acid, plus that is the usual process when you have a peel in a salon. When the peel is on, it can get a little uncomfortable but it’s totally bearable. Skin feels a little zingy and any spots go a bit white, which is interesting to witness. I find then that any spots that were there during the peels completely disappear within a day. I can’t say for sure what sort of impact this kit has had on my pigmentation, but I do feel it’s less ‘in your face’. I’ve done 4 peels in total now, so I’ll do a couple more before giving my skin a break for a bit. Then I think I’ll purchase a higher percentage kit to see what that’s like, which I’ll of course let you know about too. Not only do I really rate the effectiveness of the kit, I’m also extremely impressed by the price which is £7.60 – insane! I spend more than that on a trip to Costa…You can find the kit here – link.

I found that exfoliation was key with sorting out my skin, I actually did it in a much more harsh way (scrubs daily) until I discovered peels/acid toners. This sounds fantastic (what a great price!) and I am glad it is working for you.

I live in France and I’m planning to order this kit from Amazon but with 20% concentration. It costs around 20 euros though (Around 14 pounds).
Do you know of any local French brands that I can buy at the pharmacy without a prescription instead of this one? Thank you!
P.S. I have had professional salicylic peels before and they worked fine for me.

To be honest, I really don’t know enough about French pharmacies to know what they stock, but we have some really great AHA and BHA products available in UK pharmacies, yet I still don’t think you can beat these peel kits for value and effectiveness.
