bareMinerals Blemish Remedy Foundation

The newest addition to the bareMinerals powder foundation family is a massive step-up from their previous powders in every sense of the word; the formulas are better, the shades are much easier to decipher and the packaging is brilliant.  I’m a huge bareMinerals fan and I’ve always loved everything I’ve tried from the range, other than, funnily enough, their powder foundations, which I’ve never really been able to get along with.  Thankfully, the bareMinerals Blemish Remedy Foundation is much more my type of product.

The bareMinerals Blemish Ready Foundation is formulated to both cover and treat problematic/spot-prone skin types.  The foundation formula contains Aspen Bark and Tea Tree Oil to encourage clearer skin; I really love the idea of a treatment mineral foundation that goes above and beyond the usual promises of mineral powders. The packaging is soooo much better now, as it contains a net above the powder that you press your brush into to release the foundation directly on to the sponge.  Then when you’re done, the lid goes back on and a raised part sits flush against the net on top of the powder, so none escapes, meaning the whole process is a lot less messy.

Of course the bareMinerals Blemish Ready Foundation would launch at a time when I’m finally able to stop seeking out really high coverage products and instead choose lighter, dewier finishes.  The Blemish Ready formula does feel quite heavy on the skin; it’s a creamy finish, so even though it’s extremely matte, it doesn’t feel chalky, but as I’m so used to lighter bases now, this did feel heavier than I needed.  Having said that, how good is that finish? It’s definitely as close to flawless as my very scarred skin can get, and for that reason it’s staying in my kit for special occasions.

If you have oily, blemish-prone or highly scarred/pigmented skin then I really rate the Blemish Remedy Foundation.  The shade range appears pretty good – there are ten in total and my shade is the palest, Clearly Porcelain, which matches me really well – with the darkest shades looking pretty dark, although I’m not sure how very dark skin will fare.  I would also really recommend the Seamless Buffing Brush, which is a soft and very effective applicator for buffing in a high coverage finish.  The foundation is £26 and the brush is £24 – link.
