There is not a single thing I’m not excited about in this gorgeous new collection of launches from superstar high street brand, Maybelline. They’ve got everything covered with a great new base product and applicator to match, brows are sorted with an innovative new pencil, lashes are covered with a fantastic new mascara that’s gone straight into my “everyday” kit, there are some absolutely brilliant and extremely cute new blush balms and finally there’s a spray to keep it all together. Let’s have a closer look at all the joyful newness!
The Dream foundation line has been a huge success with the original Dream Matte Mousse being quite ahead of it’s time, like many Maybelline launches. Then came Dream Creamy which was just *amazing*, yet they inexplicably discontinued it! The newest arrival is the Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation which is designed to provide a matte finish without the dryness that often comes with matte-finish products. See? Genius! Such a fab idea. There are six shades available, all of which lean fairly light unfortunately, so darker skin tones are rather left out of this one, but hopefully that’ll change soon. There’s also a new tool, the Dream Blender, which is basically a beauty blender on a stick that’s small enough to buff and blend in every nook and cranny. The Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation is £7.99 here – link – and the Dream Blender is £4.99 here – link.
Now on to the eyes, starting with the new additions to the awesome Brow Drama range, the Pomade Crayons, which are brow multi-taskers that will give brows colour, fill in the gaps and the waxy texture will keep everything in place. Much like the brow mascaras covered a multitude of brow needs, now we have a pencil that does the same. There are three shades available, Blonde, Soft Brown and Dark Brown and above are Blonde and Dark Brown – these are £5.99, although Boots currently has them for just £3.99 here –link. Not pictured is the new mascara, The Falsies Push Up Drama, which is a brilliantly no-fuss product that’s completely bells-and-whistles-free, and instead just provides fantastic definition, length, volume, colour and curl in one speedy swoop. It’s available now for £7.99. I’ve just noticed Boots have it for £5.99 here – link.
I’m not too sure whether the Superstay 24hr Setting Spray is a new arrival or not, but I know it hasn’t been around for that long. I’ve literally just put this through it’s paces today with a gruelling workout at the gym, and whilst I wouldn’t say my make-up was exactly as it was when I left the house (how could it be? I was doing sweaty cardio!) it was certainly a lot more intact than it usually is by the time I’ve finished working out. It’s quite an interesting product that feels a little like hairspray for a moment as it goes on, but once set, you can’t feel it. It’s £6.99 here – link.
Saving the best until last, and these really are quite something, say “hello” to the new Baby Lips Balm & Blushes which are every bit as fabulous as they look! They are round, coloured balms that provide a sheer wash of colour to lips and cheeks and the finish really is beautiful; dewy, light, brightening and just generally pretty – I love these so much! The four shades are Innocent Peach, Flirt Pink, Blooming Ruby and Shimmering Bronze and these are £4.99 each here – link. I’ll be posting a full review with swatches in the next few days. There’s some really good deals on for Maybelline at Boots at the mo, so if you see some bits you like in the new launches, now is the time to act!
