Five Things I Love: November 2016

It feels a bit ridiculous covering my November favourites when we’re so close to the end of December (and already happily talking about January…) but I’m gonna’, because I’m fed up talking about Christmas stuff so I’d love to indulge myself and rave about some beauty loves.

In November I had a terrible time with my skin which because painfully inflamed, broken out all over and just very difficult to treat, so the Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective (£42.50 here – link) did it’s usual brilliant job of soothing, calming and being very kind to my very tricky skin; I will always make sure I never run out of this beauty – as it always steps up when everything else is failing.  I love the mask too!  Only since I got my hair cut into a bob have I started really loving hair care products, with the Root Boost Spray from Catwalk by Tigi (£7.85 here – link) being a current firm favourite thanks to its ability to add volume and a bit of texture without leaving any residue.

The Oxygenetix Acne Control Foundation (£55 here – link) is the one make-up product I always turn to when my skin is having a breakdown as I feel much happier knowing that my make-up is actually helping the problem rather than adding to it.  A lot of spot-fighting make-up can feel and look very drying, but the Oxygenetix one, for me, leaves skin looking dewy and feeling comfortable – it’s a must for anyone who’s breakout prone, even if you just keep it in your stash for unexpected flare-ups. Along with horrid skin, I’ve also had horribly dry lips, but I’ve had to tread really carefully with what I use as I’ve found a lot of my usual favourites have given me small spots around my mouth, but thankfully Carmex isn’t one of them, so I’ve been using it every night as a rich treatment to address my dry lips – I’m currently using the Carmex Lime Twist lip balm (£1.99 here – link), purely because it’s in a stick as I don’t like to stick my fingers into pots of lip balms if I can help it. Finally, the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Palette (£35 and it comes with a double-ended brush too here – link) is exactly that – natural and pretty and just glorious to work with; it’s a collection of matte nudes and neutrals with a couple of smokey numbers thrown in for good measure.  It also has a pearly white shade, called “transforming pearl” which can change any of the matte shades to shimmery – genius, right? I love this palette and think it would make the most fantastic present to anyone new to make-up or those who are already beauty lovers.

The Skinceuticals serum and the Oxygenetix foundation both sound great, I really want to try them now but I am sooo broke! I’ll have to save up for one then the other! I have a love/hate relationship with my skin, it’s so temperamental. Anti-aging stuff is often too rich and breaks me out but if I go without it I look dry and my wrinkles show up more. Between a rock and a hard place!
