Benefit They’re Real! Double The Lip Lipsticks

The Benefit They’re Real! Double The Lip lipsticks made their first, teasing appearance nearer the end of last year as part of a Christmas gift set, and I remember seeing them and finding them very exciting, whilst hoping they’d extend the collection to include more of a variety of shades, which is, thankfully, exactly what they’ve done.

The Benefit They’re Real! Double The Lip lipsticks are duo lip products in twist-up packaging that stays within the They’re Real! theme, looking a lot like the TR liners.  There are eight shades in total spanning a good variety of berries, nudes and pinks, although those seeking something milky or very nude will be disappointed, as these are mostly takes on “lips but better” type colours, with the exception of a couple of brights.

The Benefit They’re Real! Double The Lip lipsticks come in an innovative, ‘teardrop’ design with a slightly different colour at the tip which provides a lip liner, so the overall effect is defined and slightly 3D thanks to the careful placement of two matching colours.  You can apply the lipstick a variety of ways, but to get the best effect, you can use the liner tip to sketch the lip line before filling in with the main colour.

The Benefit They’re Real! Double The Lip lipsticks have a really lovely formula that’s creamy, rich and hydrating, with a buildable, pigmented colour – these are pretty much the Goldilocks of lipsticks, formula-wise, as they’ve got it all just right.  There are some lovely colours too, my favourites being Lusty Rose and Nude Scandal, but I also really like Revved-Up Red as a great, soft take on red lips and Juicy Berry is another great example of an extreme shade that’s been made very wearable.  These are very well priced at £16.50 each since the formula is definitely luxury, the colour selection is great and the packaging is functional, sturdy and very, very “Benefit”!
