Foundation Files: NYX Professional Makeup Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop Full Coverage Foundation

NYX Professional Makeup Can't Stop, Won't Stop Full Coverage Foundation

There are a few high street brands that I really pay attention to when they launch a new base product, and I think NYX Professional Makeup are at the top of that list.  NYX Professional Makeup are so good at catering to all their customers, with phenomenal shade ranges in an array of formulas and finishes.  The NYX Professional Makeup Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop Full Coverage Foundation is a perfect example of exactly that.

First of all, let’s look at the shade range, which contains a staggering 45 shades.  45! If you think that many high street brands offer around the 20 shade mark (many offer a lot less) and a brand will shout from the rooftops if they manage to reach the 30 mark, 45 is just crazy.  What this means is that all the people who are at the extreme end of shade ranges will have a great selection to pick from.  I regularly moan about how many foundations don’t go pale enough for me – but with NYX PMU foundations, I’m usually around a shade five, so that’s four shades that are TOO PALE for me, which is amazing.

The three shades I have are Light Ivory (04), Light (05) and Vanilla (06). Light Ivory is too pale for me (I know! I so rarely get to say that!) and Light is absolutely perfect.  I can also just about get away with Vanilla, which is a fraction too warm, but still very wearable, especially when I have a bit of Summer colour.  Light and Vanilla are more yellow-leaning, whilst Light is slightly pink but pretty neutral. The last NYX Professional Makeup foundation I tried out was the Total Control Drop Foundation (check out my full review here) and I can see that the shades correlate, so if you’ve used other foundations from NYX PMU, you’ll likely be the same shade.

The NYX Professional Makeup Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop Full Coverage Foundation is a long-wearing, waterproof and matte finish foundation.  It’s “high street full coverage” rather than pro MUA high coverage, so you will get a good level of coverage, but it won’t hide heavy pigmentation or bad acne.  It layers really well, so you can top up areas that need a bit more coverage without it going patchy. The matte finish is a flattering matte, so skin won’t look chalky, but it will look finished – you don’t need concealer or powder here, as it does everything.  I have skin that gets dry very quickly, and as this is a matte formula it can feel a bit dry on me after a few hours, but for anyone who’s oily or prefers a matte finish that actually stays matte, this is fantastic.

In conclusion, the NYX Professional Makeup Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop Full Coverage Foundation is another brilliant base product that’ll provide you with long-wearing coverage in a matte formula and a crazy good shade range.  It’s £15 for 30ml and at the moment Boots have a 3for2 that’s including NYX PMU, so now is the time to try something new.  Find the range either in-store or online at Boots here – link – or you can find it at the main NYX PMU site here – link – where you get free delivery on a £30+ spend.

Yes! This sounds like my kind of foundation! Light Ivory also seems as if it would suit my skin tone nicely.
The Boots 3-4-2 deal is the perfect chance to stock up! Love NYX makeup, still buzzing that we can get it in Boots! Used to be so hard to get hold of NYX in the UK – not anymore though!
    Lovely review.

Thanks Hanna! I know exactly how you feel – I’m so happy they’re so accessible now as they’re such an amazing brand, I always view them as a more affordable MAC based on their phenomenal shade range alone! Thanks very much for your lovely comment xx

I love matte foundations for my oily skin but I find so many of their formulas cake up on me on my upper lip and chin – so annoying! For that reason I’d be scared to try this one out.

I can imagine that would be a pain and as my skin is quite dry I haven’t personally experienced that. I will say though that this is a really good foundation for oil control as it maintains the matte finish really effectively, so fab if you’re oily, although a little too dry for me and my dry-leaning skin!

If you struggle with certain areas getting a bit too oily, have you considered using powder both before and after applying foundation? Apparently it’s a great way to sandwich the product into place xx
