Smashbox Gloss Angeles Lip Gloss

Smashbox recently launched a new range of lip glosses that I kind of feel are a bit like a throwback to traditional, old-school glosses…without all the stickiness and crappy pigmentation. The Smashbox Gloss Angeles Lip Glosses are a really pretty collection of 14 shades that are a fairly good mix, although I will say that there’s a lot of pink – this is, of course, a dream come true for a pink-lover like me, but for those of you who don’t love a pretty pink lip, there are a few nudes, purples and even a couple of sparkly numbers too.
The Smashbox Gloss Angeles Lip Glosses come in traditional screw-top tubes with doe-foot applicators. The applicators are good, solid and the right size, so application is a breeze and it’s very easy to achieve a clean lip look. The pigmentation is a good too, and it doesn’t take a lot of effort to build up to an opaque lip.
The three shades I was sent are Sorbet Watch – a peach-leaning, pale coral pink cream; Actors Gild – a more sheer gold sparkle and Self Promocean – a true, bright lavender that’s probably the most ‘alternative’ shade in the line-up. My favourite of the trio is Sorbet Watch, so this is the one I tried. It lasted really well for a lip gloss, wearing evenly when I ate and drank and not going patchy. I also have my eye on the Obvi Mauvey shade, which looks like a really wearable take on the mauve shade.
Sorbet Watch is a great shade that works well with the Pantone Colour of the Year which is coral, so it’s a shade we’ll be seeing everywhere this year, but if you’re not too sure on a bright coral lip then this is a great way to wear a more muted take on it. The Smashbox Gloss Angeles Lip Glosses are out now and are very reasonably priced at £15 a pop here – link.
