Beauty Pie Order – May 2019

Beauty Pie ReviewPIN IT

I have a strange relationship with Beauty Pie, and as a consequence, I’ve decided to write-up a full post on my experience with Beauty Pie, what I like about it and what I think needs improving, so if you’re undecided about whether to become a Beauty Pie member, hopefully that post will help and I’ll aim to publish ASAP.  I’ve been saving my monthly allowance so that I could have a splurge, and I’ve been slowly putting together an order over the last few months with a view to ordering once the new Setting Spray launched, which it did last week, so here’s what I decided to pick up:

Beauty Pie Perfect Pocket Palette EyeshadowPIN IT

The Perfect Pocket Palette Eyeshadow (£9.64 for members – weird name, right?) was a bit of an afterthought as I wasn’t going to bother ordering one, but the shades in the Beautiful Neutrals edit caught my eye as I’m a sucker for a set of cool-toned browns.  It’s very early days and I will follow-up with a full review, but my first impressions are extremely positive as I tried them today and all the shades are beautifully buttery and smooth, pigmented and really flattering – I can see myself reaching for this again and again, even if it did come with a rubbish double-ended sponge applicator.

Beauty Pie ReviewPIN IT

Not really sure why I decided to go for the Shine Up Lip Colour Balm Stick (£3.44) in the shade Super Naked as it’s very much the sort of shade I usually avoid – a kind of peachy nude that almost certainly won’t suit me.  Having said that, the formula feels lovely so I might have to try some of the other shades.

I’m going through a big tightlining phase at the moment and I haven’t tried any Beauty Pie liners yet, so I thought I’d give the Fantastikohl Smudgy Eye Colour Crayons (£2.93) a go and I went for shades Smokescreen and Taupey.  I haven’t tried either of these yet so I’ll withhold my opinion, but I will say that the fact that they’re triangular is a bit off-putting; great for holding but rubbish for sharpening!

The Superbrow Precision Pencil (£3.43) in shade Perfect Brown is one of my favourites from this little binge as it’s a brilliant brow pencil that’s a perfect shade of cool brown (you can get Perfect Brown in a warm version too – great that you can pick either) and the pencil itself is really lovely to work with, as it’s just right: not too soft and not too firm.

Beauty Pie Wondergloss Lip Oil TrioPIN IT

The Wondergloss Lip Oil Trio (£8.08) is a set I’ve had my eye on for a while, especially as the original shade (I want to say “nectar”?) didn’t really do anything for me, but I love lip oils in general, so this was a definite buy for me.  These are the perfect example of why Beauty Pie are so good and really do provide luxury products without the price tag, as I could genuinely see these appearing in a seasonal edit for a brand like By Terry or Chantecaille, as there’s just something very luxurious about them.  I’m so pleased they have more shades and the pink one is especially lovely.

Beauty Pie Fresh Glow Breathable Setting Spray ReviewPIN IT

If you buy one thing from Beauty Pie, make it the Seamless Foundation Buffing Brush (£5.03) as I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever tried a foundation brush that comes close to this – this is one of those products that is everything you hope for and more from a brush; it’s soft and feels lovely on the skin, but most importantly, it buffs the foundation in incredibly well, with very little effort, plus it really does leave the finish seamless – I’m stocking up on my next order!

It’s too early to share my thoughts on the Oil-Free Micro-Mineral Serum Foundation (£6.53) 0ther than to say that first impressions are very good.  I need to use it with something other than the aforementioned Buffing Brush to give it a fair trial though, as I think pretty much anything applied with that brush would look good!

Finally, the Fresh Glow Breathable Setting Spray (£5.28) which again is something I’m not going to comment on fully as I’ve only used it once, but I have very high hopes and I’ll report back soon.
