Clinique Even Better Pop Lip Colour Foundation

The Clinique Pop Lip Colour Lipsticks are one of the best lipstick formulas around; buttery yet not slippery, pigmented yet not thick, and long-lasting without any dryness at all, so when the Clinique Even Better Pop Lip Colour Foundation lipsticks launched (confusing name, I’ll explain) I was very excited as this is a product designed to help those of us who struggle with finding their perfect nude.

The Clinique Even Better Pop Lip Colour Foundation lipsticks are a range of 28 nude shades broken down into three categories: Naked, Casual and Glam.  You start the process of finding your perfect match by first establishing your foundation shade; if you use Clinique already then you’ll probably know what this shade is, but if you don’t, you can always pop in-store and get matched or use the wheel on the Clinique site to make an educated guess.  Then you find the three shades that match your skintone, and these are your perfect nudes for every occasion.

I was shade-matched to the shade Flax in Even Better Foundation (wearing it in the pic above) so my three shades are Romanced (naked), Subtle (casual) and Entwined (glam).  I think finding your perfect nude lip is a really tricky business as the wrong undertone or colour can drain you and leave you looking poorly, whereas the right shade can do so much – giving your whole face a brightening lift, meaning you can cut right back on other make-up.

I got the shades mixed up in my swatches so it’s Subtle, Romanced and Entwined.  Even though I think it suits me, I would struggle to wear Entwined as it’s a little too vampy for me, but it’s still a flattering take on a more ‘in your face’ nude shade.  Subtle is the shade I most associate with your traditional brown-leaning nude – again, very flattering, but not necessarily a shade I would reach for myself – then you have the beautiful Romanced, which is a gorgeous pink-leaning nude (wearing above) that sits in the naked variety, so it’s very subtle but really does go with everything – dress it up or down and it will look amazing; such a beautiful shade! The Clinique Even Better Pop Lip Colour Foundation lipsticks are £17.50 each – I would strongly recommend popping along to your nearest counter to find your match, but you can also find out more online here – link.
