I’m always so excited by the news of a Philip Kingsley launch as I love their range of hair care so much. I’m lucky enough to get to try so many different brands through my blog work, but I always, always come back to Philip Kingsley as their range is so reliable and suits my hair perfectly. I often talk about their Body Building range, but today I’m sharing a closer look at the Bond Builder range, which currently consists of three products, one of which is the newly launched Bond Builder Restorative Oil Lipid Shield.
First let’s look at the two existing Bond Builder products, starting with the Bond Builder Split End Remedy (£26 here – link) which is a product I talked a lot about during the early part of the pandemic when I had very long hair and no access to a hairdresser! The Bond Builder Split End Remedy is a serum that you use on the ends of the hair to both repair existing damage and prevent further damage; basically a treatment that strengthens the hair ends and lasts for up to three washes, although when I had very long hair I tended to use it after every wash as I felt like it added an additional level of protection and honestly, it was quite amazing how great my hair looked after such a neglectful 18 months and I definitely champion this product!
The Bond Builder Restructuring Pre-Shampoo Treatment (£28 here – link) is, as the name suggests, a pre-shampoo conditioner that helps to repair breakage and increase overall hair strength. You might look at a product like this and wonder how it differs to the *amazing* and iconic Philip Kingsley Elasticizer and I think that would be a fair question; I can’t say for sure, but I believe that Elasticizer is a more rounded treatment for all hair types that need a boost, whereas this treatment is a targeted reparative product that heavily focuses on strengthening hair that’s been weakened or damaged.
The final product is the newly launched, Bond Builder Restorative Oil Lipid Shield (£26 here – link) which I see as a bit of a do-it-all product for any hair that’s suffered from heat or colouring damage, or indeed just in need of a bit of TLC – don’t be put off by the word “oil” as I was a bit unsure as to whether this would work with my fine hair, but much like the rest of the Philip Kingsley range, it worked like a charm! This is a finishing product designed to go on after you wash your hair, and it can be applied in a number of ways depending on your needs. It’s advised to be used every 2-3 washes, but again, these are just guidelines and you can use it more or less depending on how your hair responds. I found my hair felt and looked healthier and shinier, but most importantly, it wasn’t weighed down and was still able to move with volume – this is big thing for me as I have fine hair, but a lot of it, so pretty much everything that can add weight to it, will do so, but this oil is probably my favourite hair oil ever as it adds all the good stuff and doesn’t take anything away.
The whole range is available now and you can buy the trio for a discounted price of £52 (saving £28) here – link.
