Any regular readers will know that I do love a bit of skincare. I’m always reading and researching it, trying to find out as much as I can about any new developments, ingredients and formulations to see if there’s anything worth writing about. In the next week, I’ll be completely changing my night time routine to hopefully drastically improve my skin. I’ll be sharing all the news next week, but in the meantime, I wanted to share some of the products I’ve been recently depending on.
I’m still spotty and I still have a couple of spots each day, but I’m no longer getting any angry, horrid cystic spots. The skin that isn’t spot-prone (mainly my cheeks, nose and forehead; these areas get very occasional spots but are mostly spot-free) is looking pretty great and my acne scars have started to show significant reduction. So it’s all good and I could happily coast along like this, but I want to have skin that is spot-free which is why I’ll be switching it all up shortly. Sorry to be vague, I just don’t want to launch into my news in this post because there’s a lot to say and a lot to explain. I promise I’ll write-it up soon; it’s very exciting and I’ll be keeping a constant log so you can keep up with what’s happening.
Anyway! On to my current night time routine. This is a round-up rather than a review piece, so some of the products featured will already be reviewed, whilst others will be getting a review soon. First up we have:
For me, I need a make-up remover followed by a treatment cleanser, so to remove make-up I use either Bioderma Crealine or Ark Pre Skin Cleanse. Both are fab although I tend to use the Ark cleansing oil more as it’s a really effective make-up dissolver that works without much effort needed.
I then use the Oxy Seaweed Power Fresh Skin Wash as a treatment cleanser to give my skin a good cleanse. I use this with my Clarisonic and I use a hot flannel on my face a few times before I cleanse to open up my pores.
I can’t get enough of the Oxy Seaweed Power Deep Calm Balm so I’m still using this daily to counteract any dryness and moisturise my skin without any flooding.
Before I moisturise, I use Murad’s Blemish and Wrinkle Reducer. I use a full pump rubbed in all over my face. I let this fully absorb before I apply my moisturiser.
I am seriously impressed with Nelson’s Pure and Clear Treatment Gel which is a targeted spot treatment, so I rub this on to any spots/spotty areas after my moisturiser has settled in.
I use treatment masks regularly, especially to keep spots at bay, so I alternate between the Botanics Shine Away and the Vichy 3-in-1. I then follow this with La Roche-Posay’s Hydraphase Intense Masque to balance everything out and stop my combination areas drying out. Unfortunately I threw away the empty tube of the La Roche-Posay mask, hence it’s omission from the pictures.
Whilst I’m waiting for the Murad serum to settle in, I apply a tiny amount of Erno Laszlo Blue Firmarine Eye Serum on both my upper and lower lids. I’m obsessed with this product so expect a gushy review soon. I then finish off with Balance Me Rose Otto Lip Salve to give my lips a moisture boost before bed.
So as you can see, I’m still as obsessed with skincare now as I was almost a year ago when I started this blog. This is the first skincare routine that I’ve stuck to for quite a while and it’s definitely minimised by spottiness, but I’m still not spot-free….hopefully this will be changing soon with my new routine that I’ll tell you about next week….
Disclosure: a melting pot of samples, magazine freebies and purchases which I can’t face listing, sorry!
Wow…this is definitely a complex skin care routine…I wish I had the same amount of knowledge about the best skin care products..I will definitely try out some of these formulas for my acne-prone complexion….
Thanks so much! Unfortunately I’ve had nightmare skin for years so I’ve tried a lot of different products xx
Great post and I’m glad to hear your skin is improving. I know how much of a pain acne-prone skin can be. I’m forever going through good / bad skin phases, it drives me crazy!
Look forward to hearing about your new regime too 🙂
It’s such a nightmare isn’t it? I’m getting on well with the new routine so far, but I’m keeping reviews on a delay so I can be as reflective and critical as possible rather than launching into raves like I normally do! So far I’m very happy though 🙂 xx
