I’ve been on a bit of a mascara binge lately, having purchased various brands including Givenchy, YSL, Dior and Lancome and whilst I’ve been mostly happy with my purchases (more info to follow) the one that’s really stood out for me is the Maybelline’s newest one, the Colossal Cat Eyes.
I was a little suspicious when I saw the ad campaign for this mascara as there’s a trend at the moment for flared lashes (meaning that they flare out towards the outer corners) and logic dictates that to create a flare, you’d realistically need to pull the wand outwards; if you’ve got thin lashes at the edges of your eyes – like many women do – then they’re not going to magically flare out with the use of a new type of mascara, are they? Well, yes they are! I’m always blown away by Maybelline mascaras and everytime I purchase and try their newest one (which is every time they release one) I kick myself for bothering to try anything else.
This mascara is wonderful and does exactly as it says on the tin. Not only does it flare out the edges beautifully, it gives you that false lash look where all your lashes look individually long and glossy. I’m really impressed with this and I will definitely continue to use it….until they bring out their next one.

You know it’s funny you should say that as I often see Maybelline mascaras getting bad reviews and I cannot understand it! I think I’ve probably tried everyone they’ve released in the last five years at least and there’s only one that I really couldn’t get on with (that black stiletto one) but the others have always been amazing! I was lucky enough to win this mascara when they launched there new MNY Live Magazine on FB and I have to say it’s best mascara I have ever owned and really does give the Cat eye look
My only complaint is it has a strong smell of honey
