Boots No7 Vital Enlightening Highlighter

February 15, 2012 · In: Make-Up, Reviews

The Vital Enlightening Highlighter is part of the new No7 Spring make-up range that recently launched which includes the Vital Bright blushers and lipsticks as well as the BB Creams (review here) and this Highlighter.  I had absolutely no intention of purchasing this until I happened to see it at Boots and instantly fell in love.

Firstly, I love a neutral highlighter as it’s such a great product to feature in your everyday make-up kit.  I was also rather taken with the packaging and when I swatched it I didn’t think twice about adding it to my basket.

The packaging is a black box with a white and floral patterned lid.  I personally feel they’ve got it spot on with this style as it’s pretty without being too overly girly and chic without being too quaint.  The powder itself is a kind of tiered flower shape, that’s a bit like the edge of a flower if that makes sense!  I’ve tried to capture it in a few different lights to give you a better idea of how it swatched.

The highlighter itself is a very pale, creamy, slightly silvery beige shade that I think would work best on cooler and neutral skin tones, but still effective on warmer skin.  I think this will really come into it’s own when the sun arrives and people start getting a bit of colour, as I would imagine (can still only really imagine *sigh*) that this would make a tan pop brilliantly.  However, as a day-to-day highlighter this is very effective and blends down beautifully which brings me to my next point, it’s movability.

This powder can be spread like you would not believe; when you apply it to one spot you can keep spreading it out as far as you want which is ideal for highlighting larger areas or ensuring it’s very sheer.  For a sheer application, I apply it on the back of my hand first and then work it into my cheek bones and under my brow bone.  It’s also the perfect shade for lighting up the inner eyes as it’s neutral enough to highlight the area effectively without stealing attention from other eye make-up.

This is a fabulous find as it creates a sheeny glow as opposed to full blown razzle-dazzle glitter, making it a really great everyday highlighter.  It’s available at the Boots website here as well as in store for £13.  There’s also currently a 3for2 on No7 which includes this, so if you fancy stocking up, now’s the time.

I was desperate to get this, but they were sold out when I had the chance to get it, so ended up with one of the lippies instead.

Random clickings led me back here, lol. And in the end, it was both lippies and the highlighters.

I am kicking myself for not picking this up when I saw it- like you I fell in love instantly. I bet it will be all sold out by the time I get to boots- there were very few in store in the first place. :/
