I’ll start by forewarning you that you’re about to experience some pretty rubbish photography as not only am I having lighting issues, but the area I normally take photos is currently inaccessible, so sorry in advance for this!
I’ve spent the last few days moaning about how cold it is, so I thought I’d channel such moans into something more creative. I wanted to use a dark blue as a base and involve glitter to represent icicles. I’m probably waaay over thinking it, but I’m tired and it’s cold. So there.
To create this NOTD I used three different Rimmel varnishes and a pot of glitter that came in a set I bought from Claire’s Accessories. The base is 60 Seconds in Blue My Mind which is a fabulously inky blue colour that really reminds me of the night sky. I used three coats of this, then I used 60 Seconds in Clear on the upper portion of each nail before pressing it into the glitter pot. I did each nail one at a time so the varnish wouldn’t dry before I’d had a chance to dip it in the glitter. I then finished with a top coat of I Love Lasting Finish in Disco Ball just to add a tiny bit more colour so it didn’t all look too flat. This also blended the edges of the glitter and the Blue My Mind really well.
I wanted to avoid it looking too much like a French manicure which is why I took the glitter further down as I kind of had snowfall in my head as inspiration. I really like the finish of this as it’s cold and icy which matches perfectly with how I feel the minute I leave my home.
Um wow. Just wow! I did a similar mani the other day, using 2 glitter polishes though. My nails made me happy that day!
xx
Thanks lovely! Having pretty nails makes the biggest difference doesn’t it? I had no idea last year, but since I’ve started keeping to my NY resolution to keep learning about nail care it’s really cheered me up 🙂 xx
