Obviously I’m not in any way suggesting that I find deodorants exciting, they’re more functional, every day bits of kit that you – in theory – apply and forget all about. I’ve never been one for using a deodorant in any form other than a spray. Mainly because it was quite a while ago when I used a roll-on type applicator and I found the whole experience a disaster; it was messy, chalky, drying, went all over my clothes and so the cons definitely outweighed the pros. Therefore I was keen to try Sure’s newest offering, which is the Maximum Protection Anti-Perspirant Deodorant Cream.
This deodorant comes in three varieties; Sensitive, Clean Fresh and Confidence. I’ve been trialling the Confidence variant as I like the scent which is quite a punchy floral smell without being sickly or overly sweet. It isn’t the most amazing scent, but it’s certainly likeable and whilst your underarms will smell of it, it doesn’t intrude on other scents like your perfume.
It’s a twist-up application, but rather than twist up evenly, it twists at an angle (I’m not doing a great job of explaining that but hopefully the picture will help!) to better fit the contour of the underarm. I think this is such a great detail that’s often overlooked in the design of a product like this. Once you’ve twisted up enough product, you apply it and immediately there’s a cream layer on your underarms. Thankfully this absorbs straight away and the result is a very dry and clean feeling underarm.
The two things that appeal most to me about this deodorant is the fact that, firstly, it’s very emollient and does feel, in a weird way, like a moisturiser for your underarms, and secondly the fact that the product is dispensed in a contour fashion to ensure a better and more even coverage without lots of excess product going everywhere.
The only thing that alarms me about the product is that the moisturising ingredients in the formulation are silicones which makes me wonder how good that is for the actual skin. I’m no doctor though so there’s every chance I’m over-thinking it!
The most important thing about this deodorant is how well it keeps you dry and stops the smell of sweat appearing. I’m not the greatest tester for this as I very rarely do much that gets a good sweat going (I’m quite the lady of leisure…) but I definitely think that this does a good job at keeping my underarms seemingly feeling dry and smelling fresh.
The most appealing thing to me is the fact that the skin under my arms does feel better, and the idea of a multi-tasking moisturising treatment for this area really strikes a chord for me, so it’s safe to say I’m now a roll-on convert.
Sure Women Maximum Protection Anti-Perspirant Deodorant (S) is available now priced at £5.30.
I have this and I love it! I work out a lot and it really does work, it’s the best deodorant I’ve come across x
It’s pretty good isn’t it? As I said in the post, I’m not really the ideal candidate for testing it but it certainly does the trick for me xx
