Bourjois have recently joined the BB bandwagon, but have done things a little differently by creating a BB cream compact foundation* as opposed to the more traditional liquid formulas. I was gagging to try this ever since I first heard about it, so I was extremely pleased to receive this recently in the shade Vanille.
The compact alone is worthy of investing in thanks to it’s moveable hinged mirror which means you can position it to face pretty much any direction. It’s a total godsend for applying tricky eyeliner as you can position it to face upwards at the perfect angle allowing you to look down into the mirror whilst making up. It’s absolutely brilliant and I hope more compacts are released with this as it’s a total game-changer!
The BB Cream itself is of a good, thick consistency and it’s bang in the middle finish wise; it isn’t overly dewy but it’s also nowhere near matte. I’d say it gives skin a sheen rather than a full on glow. The coverage it offers is impressive; I would rank it as medium coverage if I were to compare it to other foundations, but as a BB Cream it’s without a doubt the highest coverage I’ve come across. However, it’s extremely buildable so you can easily sheer it out if you’re not a fan of heavy make-up. It doesn’t cover everything as you can see in my pictures, but it’s great for creating an even finish, covering redness and in fairness it covers most acne scars really well too. Vanille is the perfect shade for my pale skin and if I had to guess, I’d say this was around the Mac 15-20 region.
It doesn’t last too long on my oily skin and does need to be powdered if you have skin like mine. However, normal and dry skin types wouldn’t have a problem with this. This is a truly brilliant BB Cream; I love the compact and the fact that it comes in a solid form, and now my skin is no longer playing up like it used to, I’m really enjoying using a base with less cover that blends perfectly with skin, offers wonderful coverage and doesn’t break me out. It’s a Selfridges exclusive priced at £11.99 and available in three shades.
Will it always be a selfridges exclusive, or will I be able to get it at Boots?
Darn! I have super oily skin so this wouldn’t work well for me. Too bad, I would love a medium coverage bb cream, love the compact too.
“moveable hinged mirror which means you can position it to face pretty much any direction” -I’m sold!
Aside from the ingenious design, I think the effect is perfect. This would do wonders for my skin. I’ve loved BB cream since I first heard about it, and I’m excited to try a “compact foundation” version.
Stay pretty!
Doesn’t work on dry skin as well.
