I’m doing things a bit differently and starting with a summary of my experience at LFW first whilst it’s all still fresh in my mind! I had an absolutely amazing day running around like a lunatic on Friday which was the first day of LFW AW13. I attended courtesy of Glaceau vitaminwater and Toni & Guy which allowed me to get a real experience of what LFW is all about.
My day started (after fortunately finding a parking space within easy reach of Somerset House) with a visit to the New Look Bloggers Lounge which was a refuelling haven for stressed out bloggers running from shows to events. We were offered a wealth of treatments from HD Brows to manicures, along with an amazing selection of drinks aimed at boosting energy and keeping us going for as long as possible! My favourites were the made-to-order smoothies with fashion-themed names. I went for the Aloe Vera Wang Smoothie. We were also given a chance to peruse the New Look AW13 collection which was on display for us to investigate.
Next I paid my first visit of the day to the Handpicked Bloggers Suite where there were Popchips and Vita Coco Coconut Water drinks for us to work our way through whilst we familiarised ourselves with some of the brands who were there; my favourite was the amazing, neon-packaged make-up range from Superdry which I had a quick look at before heading over to Somerset House.
Once at Somerset House, I found my friend Laura and we both joined the queue for Felder Felder which was the show I’d kindly been granted access to thanks to Glaceau vitaminwater, who are the official soft-drink supplier for LFW. Whilst queuing, there were complimentary bags of popcorn handed out from Propercorn; I had Sweet & Salty which were seriously good! The Felder Felder show was incredibly popular, so consequently we were queuing for quite some time, but once we were inside we were seated and had ten minutes or so to check out the crowd; Kate Nash and Mollie King were among the celebrity attendees. The show itself was incredibly exciting and I’ve got lots to share about it, but I’ll save that for the Felder Felder post which I’ll publish next week.
After the show, I grabbed a quick coffee before heading over to the Toni & Guy Blow-Out Bar for a bit of pampering. Before settling down to have my hair done, I was taken backstage to have a look at was was happening pre-show. I’ll tell you more about it in another post, but it’s safe to say it was as chaotic as you’d expect! I then went back to the Blow-Out Bar to have a trim.
To finish off my day at LFW (I had an event in the evening so I wasn’t able to attend another show as planned…which is probably a good thing as I was exhausted by that point!) I went back to Handpicked where I had time to get to know the Superdry make-up brand a little better before finishing my day with a hand and arm massage courtesy of Seascape. I then dragged my goody bags and tired self back to my car before heading off to the event.
It was an amazing day with an indescribable atmosphere and I am so glad to have experienced it. I’m not sure I could hack more than one day of it as it involved soooo much running around, but I will definitely be back again next season. The clothes, the make-up and the people all make this amazingly creative week so thrilling, so it’s definitely something you should check out if you haven’t already, as regardless of whether you’re really into fashion or not, it makes for a truly mind-opening experience that will stay with you a long while after the week is finished. I’ll be writing up a couple more posts going into detail about each of my LFW experiences at Felder Felder and Toni & Guy, so keep an eye out for them as they’ll be published soon.
London Fashion Week A/W 13 tickets were complimentary from Glacéau vitaminwater, the official soft drink supplier to London Fashion Week.
