I was so pleased to receive the press release regarding the collaboration between Barry M and Ovacome, the latter of whom are the main charity body in support of Ovarian Cancer sufferers. Breast Cancer gets such a huge amount of coverage and support, and yet Ovarian Cancer rarely seems to get a look-in. Ovarian Cancer is known as the “Silent Killer” due to the fact that most diagnoses occur when the cancer has developed into it’s final stages as until that point, it’s very easy to associate the symptoms with other, less dangerous ailments.
My mum was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer seventeen years ago and at the time it had a less than 20% survival rate and she was given months to live. Thankfully she managed to beat the disease and is still with us now, but whenever I hear the words “Ovarian Cancer” or “Ovacome” I’m taken back to one of the hardest years of my life. So I’m really pleased that March is Ovarian Awareness Month (both mine and my mum’s birthdays are in March too) and I’m especially glad to hear that Barry M have got involved.
For the month of March, 50% of the sales from Barry M’s Watermelon Gelly Nail Paint will be donated to Ovacome. Just as the Breast Cancer ribbon colour is pink, the Ovarian Cancer ribbon is teal, so this teal shade of varnish is the perfect way to show your support for the charity. The varnish is £3.99, meaning that every purchase results in just under £2 going to Ovacome. It’s definitely worth showing your support and I can’t think of a better way of doing it than adding to your polish collection. The varnish can be found here and more information about Ovacome can be found here.
This might be the excuse I need to try those polishes! Is it all of the colours or just the teal?
