According to Boots, making small but different changes to our approach to beauty can not only leave us looking fabulous, but also make us feel good too. Psychologist, Dr Kate Hefferon, says “There have been several studies into the physical and mental benefits of experiencing something new. Taking yourself out of your comfort zone, even with the smallest things like make-up can really energise you and make you feel more flexible and adaptable about bigger things in life.”
With this in mind, Boots have launched the #BootsGiveitaGo promotion which is aimed at encouraging beauty-lovers to be a bit more experimental and embrace some of the key SS13 trends. Boots have identified four trends that are easy to achieve at home, yet push the comfort barriers a little, and these are:
Red Lips: making use of the bold shade.
Moon Manicures: adding colour to the moon part of the nail; a bit like an upside down French manicure!
Statement Eyes: embracing SS13 shades of teal and blue whilst getting to grips with fake lashes.
Easy Up Dos: Victory Rolls and micro-plaits.
The idea with this promotion is that you give one (or more if you’re feeling really brave) of these suggestions a go, with the result being the enjoyment of trying something new. Boots have broken down each trend and included instructions on how to achieve it, which you can find here.
If you’d prefer a more hands-on approach, on the 22nd March 2013 there will be in-store events at 32 different Boots stores around the country. Have a look at the last page of this to find your nearest store.
This year I’ll be embracing the red lip as I think it’s a fairly easy look to work that should still give me the feel-good factor with minimal effort…what can I say? I’m lazy and after an easy life! If you’re planning to try any of the above trends then you can Tweet the results with the hashtag #BootsGiveitaGo.
