EX1 is a range of make-up designed for darker skin tones and consists of the main basics that are lacking in the cosmetic market today in darker shades, such as foundations, concealers, powders and blushers. I’m always happy when a range comes along designed to fill a market gap, and I’ve always felt that it’s incredibly unfair that darker complexions aren’t as regularly catered for as paler skins.
There are four blusher shades in the EX1 line, and the two in these pictures are Pretty in Peach and Natural Flush. I swatched them purely to give you a rough idea of the shades, but it’s essential to take into account that the colours aren’t designed for my skin tone and will therefore look completely different and come into their own on darker skin tones.
The only thing that I’m not a fan of is the fact that these are designed for “exotic skin tones” which I think is a bit of a patronising way of phrasing it, but then again I guess when you say “darker skin tones” you end up thinking of much darker tones, whereas the EX1 range is aimed at medium and darker, so I suppose the term “exotic” ensures all eligible tones are included. Texturally these are brilliantly pigmented without being chalky, and at £7.99 these are extremely affordable. The EX1 range is available now online here.
