More chubby goodness in the world of make-up, and this time it comes from Pur Minerals, who recently launched with much success into Marks and Spencer and who have expanded their collection to include these Lip Gloss Sticks. There are four shades available, but it’s worth noting that the Americans have eight in total, so that might mean that we’re due a larger shade selection at some point! Out of the four available, I have three to show you which are Berry Pretty, Honey Pie and Beach Bum.
Pur Minerals Lip Gloss Sticks are as you expect from this type of product; they deliver solid colour that’s probably about half way between a gloss and a lipstick – let’s call it middle-of-the-road colour – in an extremely nourishing formula housed in an easy to use/travel with stick. The shades we have available in the UK are a bit limited and tend to lean a little murky, but they’re all good, solid everyday shades that I think most people would feel comfortable in. Unfortunately, my on-the-lips images aren’t very true representations of the actual shades, but the swatches are a little better. Berry Pretty is a warm pink, Honey Pie is a honeyed melon shade that leans a teeny, tiny bit plum and Beach Bum is a lovely, wearable coral shade that isn’t overly bright or in-your-face.
The Chubby style lip product formula is always going to be a winner, as everyone loves the delivery of colour and moisture in such an easy package, but I do think Pur Minerals are taking a risk at pricing their offerings at £16, which mirrors their biggest competitor, Clinique. However, I do really like the level of colour payoff and easy, wearable shades, so I think they’ve got as good a chance as any others to establish themselves in the Chubby market.
