BareMinerals have recently launched a mahoosive line of lip products containing lipglosses, lipliners and lipsticks in a range of punchy, strong shades, named Marvelous Moxie. The range consists of 42 products, broken down into 18 lipsticks, 14 lipglosses and 10 lipliners, so it’s certainly comprehensive!
I was sent a sample of each product and I’m pleased to say they’re extremely good. I thought it would make sense to review each product individually, so here are my thoughts…
BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipliner – Pumped
This liner has proved a bit of a revelation for me as I haven’t used a liner for years, and I was so impressed with the sort of definition that can be so easily achieved with a few strokes of a good quality liner. The shade – Pumped – is ideal for adding definition to most lip looks and just adds a hint of colour – in the image above I’ve just used it as a liner. When my package first arrived and I had a quick look, I expected the lipstick to be my favourite by far, but actually this liner has proved to be the most useful. It’s easy to use, soft enough to blend but firm enough for decent definition, so if you’re a lip liner fan then this is one I definitely recommend trying. More info here and all liners are priced at £13.
BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss – Rulebreaker
This is probably my least favourite of the three products for two reasons; firstly, even though I’m definitely more of a lipgloss fan than I used to be, I’ll still almost always pick a lipstick over a gloss, and secondly, the gloss is scented with mint. Normally this would be a plus for me, but for the last few weeks I’ve had a real issue with anything mint flavoured; I think it’s because I ate so many of them during my morning sickness, but I can’t tolerate the taste! Therefore this isn’t a product I’d necessarily reach for, which is a shame as it’s actually a very good gloss. Rulebreaker is a medium beige/nude shot through with a slight bronze shimmer. It’s a very pretty colour that works really well with a nude make-up look. There are some gorgeous shades in the lipgloss line so check them out, priced at £16.
BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick – Fly High
This was a real surprise to me, as Fly High is a milky lilac pink shade which usually never works on my lips which have extremely red undertones that very few pinks can mask, especially if they’re milky. However, as you can hopefully see in the image, this is completely opaque which is so impressive. I also love the packaging too, which involves sliding a metal button downwards to release the lipstick bullet, then when you’re done you just click it all back into place. It’s very chic! I can’t comment on wear as I only had this on for an hour or so but texturally it’s lovely and creamy without being too balm-like; it’s mos-def still a lipstick with the expected colour payoff to match. You can have a nosey at all the shades here and this is also £16.
Here is a picture of the lipliner in Pumped used all over the lips. Apologies for that visible flake of dry skin! As you can see, this is a very easy to wear shade that makes a great base for other shades.
Lastly, here are all three products layered together; first the lipliner all over the lips, then the lipstick and finally the lipgloss. I’m not sure they’re necessarily the best combination as I think the lipstick is too different to the base shades of the other two, but I thought I’d show you any way!
So for £45 you can purchase one of each and completely update your lip wardrobe with some quality products in an array of shades. It sounds a lot, but bareMinerals are definitely a premium line, and if you think about it, you’re getting 3 products, all with individual uses, for a few pounds more than you’d pay for a Chanel compact. I can always find a way to justify a beauty splurge…
