Always ahead of the game, and one of those brands who manages to keep things interesting when it comes to nails, Models Own have a couple of new arrivals to their mahoosive array of nail products, and this time the newbies form part of their Artstix duos. There are four new variants, but unlike previous releases, these are NOT available as singles, so you can only buy them as Artstix.
In case you’re unfamiliar, the idea behind the Models Own Artstix is that it’s dual-ended pen, with one end containing a solid polish shade, and the other end contains a complimentary effect finish, usually in the form of a glitter shade. It’s a convenient and cost-friendly way of adding an interesting take on the standard manicure, and you have plenty of options as you can use either shade independently, or combine the two for accents, tips or just a standard paint job. Obviously both shades can also be used with other products, making these very handy little additions to your nail kit. In the below swatches, the left is one coat of the base colour shade and the right is the base shade with the effects shade over the top.
Cloud Drops
This seems to be the most popular shade, or at least I’ve seen most people post about. It’s a pale, creamy white base shade with a chunky gold glitter compliment product.
Ember Red
This is a decent yet not too bright red base shade with a red and gold glitter compliment shade. It’s a nice duo, but not really something I can see myself wearing on my hands, although it would look pretty fab on toes with a tan.
Blue Spray
When the collection first landed, I figured this would be the most popular, especially considering these launched in the summer; the base shade is a brilliant sea blue and the compliment shade is silver glitter plus silver glitter chunks. It makes me think of mermaids for some reason!
Terra Crystal
Last is the shade that I thought I’d like the least, but I actually think it’s my favourite of the lot! It’s a chocolate base shade with a pink fine silver glitter and chunky pink glitter. It’s very chocolate box which I rather like.
The “Elements” aspect is portrayed in both the shades and names – Terra Crystal being earth; Blue Spray being water; Ember Red being fire; Cloud Drops being air – and when I first saw these I thought they were a little on the drab side shade wise (you know me, I like my brights when it comes to nails!) but they actually swatch up rather wonderfully and for £6 each, they are fabulous little investment product.
