I have another eyeshadow post for you today, and this one is about an amazing trio of shades that I think any neutral/nude eye lover will find invaluable. Boots No7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow Trio in Good Earth contains 3 shades, 1 of which is a bit ‘meh’ – the bone shade – but the browns are just phenomenal and surprisingly versatile.
The top shade is the standard highlighting shade which is fine and contains just enough shimmer to serve its purpose. The middle shade is a suits-all taupe that works as an ideal base for any kind of neutral eye; it’s bang in the centre without being too warm or cool (although I realise it looks quite warm in my swatches above), making it very flattering and easy to wear. The last shade is just a marginally darker and more pigmented take on the middle taupe shade, meaning this can be used in the crease or just for more definition if you don’t like the sparse look of the middle shade alone, but if you’re a fan of that sexy, slightly bruised-eye look that comes with smudging a gorgeous taupe shade all around the eye and finishing with just one lick of mascara, then this trio is for you.
In these pictures, I’ve used the middle shade all over the lid, blended the darker shade on the outer corner, a little into the crease and under the eye, and used the highlighting shade centrally on both eyes just above each pupil to add depth. I’ve finished with one coat of mascara and that’s it. Normally I would add a gentle smudge of an easy to blend brown pencil, but it isn’t absolutely necessary, and to be honest I often just use the middle shade over the lid for a very quick eye.
Total love for this edit; it’ll be appearing in a fabulous No7 Christmas kit that focuses on “essentials”, which proves just how awesome a collection it is. However, it is available now from Boots for £9.50. Head here – link.
i love your short haircut in the profile picture very stylish
That’s so kind, thanks so much xx
Hi the pale shade here is like a mini-highlighter and so is really effective in emphasizing rather than as a colour per se…
