Every time Benefit add to their Box o’ Powders range, even the most cynical make-up lover’s heart gives off a little flutter, so of course the exact happened when news first broke of the new Benefit Rockateur Cheek Powder, which launched a few months ago and I’ve been having a play with over the past 6 weeks or so.
Benefit Rockateur is a ‘rockin’ rose gold’ shade; a warm, pink shade with a gold overspray. The overspray looks a helluva lot more intense in the box than it translates to skin, thankfully, and the finish is a sheen rather than a sparkle. If I had to match this to a similar product on the market, I’d say Mac’s Mocha is like a flat version of this. I’m a huge Mocha fan, so obviously I love this shade too.
Interestingly, even though this has all the traits and suggestions of a warm shade, think it can come out a little cool on certain skin tones. If you look at my images of the powder itself, it looks quite cool and silvery, yet it’s definitely a rose gold shade, so I wonder what that’s about?! It doesn’t really matter either way as it’s an extremely lovely shade that I would imagine to be very effective at lifting most skin tones.
Colour payoff, as is usual with Box o’ Powders, is brilliant; the powder is finely milled so you can gradually build this, but you don’t need a lot to add warmth and colour to the cheeks. The box is slightly different to the usual o’ Powders as it’s hinged rather than a lift-off and there’s a mirror in the lid. I really like this new design so I’m hoping this is the new precedent for future powder releases.
Benefit Rockateur is available now priced at £23.50 both instore and online – link. The Benefit Holiday collection has recently launched and includes some beautiful items such as the Little Love Potions that I’ll be showing you soon, so keep an eye out for that.
