Regardless of whether I’m in a relationship or not, I tend to avoid the Valentine’s Day hoopla as I find it all a bit too smug and pointless (I’m aware I sound intensely bitter but I’m really not!) however, I had to give it a mention in relation to this candle as I think it would make the most perfect Valentine’s gift.
The Urban Apothecary London Earl Grey Tea Luxury Candle (is that a long enough title?) is an ideal antidote to the cheesy queasiness of typical Valentine’s produce. It’s sophisticated, beautifully presented and just on the right side of romantic; I love receiving candles as gifts and this one is such a stunner.
It comes presented in a hat box and inside is the glass saucer plus the teacup itself which houses the candle. It’s well-packaged (very much like typical crockery packaging) so it isn’t going to fall to pieces in transit. When I saw the press release for these candles I expected the teacup and saucer to be attached to each other, but I’m really pleased they aren’t as this adds to the delicate beauty of the presentation.
I can’t comment on the burn time of the candle as I was a bit nervous about keeping it going for longer than a few minutes as I don’t know if that’s okay around a baby (any thoughts people??) but I can comment on the scent which is dreamy; it’s definitely tea but not too literal, so instead the finish is ever so slightly warm with a tiny citric hit, all of which make for a beautifully light yet autumnal fragrance that warms a room just enough without overpowering, and that’s only after a few minutes burn time.
I really do think these are such stunningly attractive candles that are well priced at £35. There are three variants including the Earl Grey Tea, the other two being Chai Tea Masala and White Tea. They’re available now and you can either purchase them online – link – or from John Lewis.
