Next month, budget-friendly make-up brand Collection launches their homage to the World Cup (yawn; at the football, not the make-up, obvs) with six new releases; 3 new polish shades and 3 new lip balms, the latter of which I’m most excited about. The new releases are Mardi Gras themed which is reflected in both the shades and the packaging.
First up are the nail polishes which are mostly themed around the Brazilian flag shades of Green and Yellow with the addition of white. At the launch event I had the white shade applied which you can see on my Instagram page here. The quality if the polish isn’t great, but at £1.99 I wasn’t expecting flawlessness and in fairness, once a depth of shade had been built up with three coats, it really did last and didn’t show much wear for a good few days.
The lip balms are my favourite from the launch and they come in a lipstick style tube – which I much, *much* prefer to pots – and are available in three flavours; Green Apple, Strawberry and Orange. I was extremely surprised at the quality of these balms as I was expecting a sweet sickly hit of scent over a petroleum base, but I have quite literally melted through the Green Apple one which can be singled-handedly credited for getting rid of my seasonal dry lips; I’m very impressed! It’s worth noting that the Green Apple variant tastes of Watermelon which was a bit of a shame as I love things that taste of apple, but it’s still a nice flavour so it’s no big deal.
Both the polishes and the lip balms are £1.99 each, which is about right for the polishes but quite a bargain for the lip balms. They arrive next month in June and are the perfect cheap ‘n’ cheery way of celebrating the World Cup through beauty if you’re that way inclined.
