Illamasqua are clearing having a bit of a moment with all variants of the colour pink, and obviously I couldn’t be happier; I think I might have actually let out a little squeal when I saw the new Summer 2014 arrivals! The inspiration behind the collection is soft, early 80’s beauty that consisted of mainly matte textures with strong colours but we hadn’t delved into the overly colourful mid 80’s Electronica era yet. It’s a lovely little collection and one I’m absolutely loving the look of.
There are two new shades of the Velvet Blushers, one of which is an online exclusive. The new shades are Flirtatious (soft peach) and the online exclusive Conviction, which is a seriously bright, almost neon fuchsia pink. These are joining the existing Velvet Blusher shades of Peaked and Sleek which we first saw in the Sacred Hour collection which I posted about here. The blushers are highly pigmented with a matte finish, so if you’re a blush fan and you haven’t checked these out already, now is the time. They’re £21.50 each and Conviction is on my wish list! Next up are the products that I think will get everyone excited, which are the Matte Lip Liquids. There are three shades in total, and I kind of get the impression these are similar to the new Bourjois Rouge Velvet and L’Oreal Glam Matte, in that they’re liquid takes on a matte lip, which results in a strong pop of hydrating colour. Nobody does matte quite like Illamasqua, so I’m excited to try these, especially as the shade line-up is so, so pretty. The three shades are Surrender – Warm Peach; Exotic – Vivid Orange and Forbidden – Sensual Pink. Obviously I want Forbidden, but I’m actually quite keen on the look of Surrender too, and I would bet good money that it will be the most popular of the three as it such a lovely take on a peach shade. These are £18.50 and are also available now from here – link.
