Hello and welcome to my latest irrational obsession, which is the newest lipstick release from Clinique, the Long Last Soft Matte Lipsticks. Creamy, packed full of pigment, comfortable to wear yet with a matte finish, if you dig the matte look but hate the dry, tight feel that often comes hand-in-hand with matte lipsticks then you NEED to try these awesome little fellas.
There are eight shades in total and I’d say there isn’t one that I can’t see myself loving. I’ve currently got three, two of which were samples and the last one I purchased using Boots points last week. I so rarely buy lipstick as I have the most obscene collection that I’ll never get through, but I couldn’t help myself. Consequently, expect a couple more posts on these as I have a review of the samples ready to go, and I’ll also be posting about the shade I bought myself; this post is just to show you the swatches which I shamelessly photographed on my last trip to Boots.
There truly is a shade for everyone as out of the eight shades, four are brilliantly bright and the other four are more gentle, muted shades. The shades are:
Matte Suede – muted mid brown
Matte Crimson – brilliant red that’s just on the right side of bright
Matte Peony – very pretty mid pink
Matte Petal – slightly more orange-leaning mid pink
Matte Magenta – blue-toned purple/pink
Matte Beauty – dusky pink
Matte Plum – deep, blue plum
Matte Mandarin – bright, zesty coral with a strong orange leaning
I would guess that the most popular shades would be Matte Mandarin as it’s such a wonderfully vivid, summery shade and Matte Beauty as it’s a very easy, daytime shade. I have Matte Petal, Matte Magenta and Matte Mandarin, so keep your eyes peeled for my posts on those.
