Headmasters Hair Trends SS14

A few weeks ago I visited the Soho Headmasters salon to have a hair update with the lovely Ollie who ran through this seasons hair trends.  Thankfully it’s all rather easy to wear and nothing too out there, with the most popular length being the mid-length bob and one of the key finishes is a very light, easy texture half way between wavy and straight, which is extremely easy to create either by letting your hair dry naturally with a bit of a scrunch near the end, or if your hair tends to dry straight then using a mid-sized curling wand on the middle lengths of hair will give that slightly grungy, laid-back look.  Speaking of grunge, a lot of the inspiration for current hair trends is taken from the 90’s grunge era which makes me especially happy since that was my coming of age decade!  Gwyneth’s length and finish above is pretty much spot-on for one of the popular hair trends for SS14.

Colour wise the more earthy, natural tones and finishes are back which works especially well with the mid-length, textured bob.  Headmasters have created a new way to highlight hair called Beauty Flash Lights which is like contouring for your hair; it adds volume and depth with the careful placement of gentle, lighter colour that not only naturally brightens, but it also adds movement too.  I went for the mid-length bob with concealed layers to add as much movement as possible whilst still keeping the cut on trend; this type of cut also dealt with my flyaway hair which has been a real pain lately and I’m pleased to say it’s worked a treat.  Ollie also recommended I use colour-protecting hair care rather than volumising (which is what I had been using) to counteract the flyaways and this has also worked well, so I’ll be reporting back with thoughts on my new hair care purchases.  I was given the Beauty Flash Lights which did exactly as it states on the tin; it gave light and brightness to my hair with an extremely natural finish.  I shamelessly stole the above pictures from my Max Factor Lipfinity post so you could see how my hair turned out.  I love both the cut and the colour as I feel it’s left me with hair that not only meets several current trends, but it’s also easy to maintain and when the colour and cut start to grow out, it won’t be necessary for me to rush back to the salon in a panic, making this perfect for a busy mum like me!
