This Boots No7 Cleansing Oil is the newest member of the Beautiful Skin skincare line; a comprehensive yet easy to manoeuvre range of skincare that covers all skin types. The Beautiful Skin Cleansing Oil is aimed at normal to dry skin types, however I don’t think there’s a skin type that wouldn’t get on well with this. Having said that, the first ingredient is mineral oil so depending on your thoughts on this controversial ingredient, you might want to avoid if you have skin that you feel reacts to it.
The second thing I have to have a moan about is the fragrance in this oil; it’s extremely strong and not in that lovely, aromatherapy sort of scent that a lot of facial oils have, no, this one smells of artificial perfume. It’s a nice smell but it’s far too pungent for skincare in my opinion. Having said that, with such a strong scent you expect this to be a little on the strong side when in use but it’s actually an extremely gentle oil that works especially well as an eye make-up remover – even on my overly sensitive eyes.
There we have my moans out the way, so now on to the good stuff. This cleansing oil is a beautifully rich yet light oil that moves around the skin wonderfully and does a fantastic job at removing make-up. It’s a great starter oil in a double cleanse and it also removes very heavy eye make-up with just a few gentle rubs; there’s something rather lovely about the feeling of removing eye make-up with an oil by gently massaging it away, which this oil is ideal for, although you will get a bit of clouding over for a few moments after the oil removal. After a bit of a massage you add a few drops of water to turn it into a milk that then washes away quickly and effectively without any remaining residue. I do rate this oil; I have a couple of niggles as mentioned above, but having had this for over a week I do find myself reaching for it regularly which is always a good sign, especially when I’m fortunate enough to have a lot of skincare to work my way through at the moment. If you’re a cleansing oil fan, this Boots offering is well worth checking out for £11 here – link. I note it’s in a 3for2 at the moment so now’s the time to get trying!
