It’s Chubby Cheeks! As mentioned in my intro post here, there are two new and absolutely gorgeous make-up launches from Clinique, both of which I’ll be publishing more details posts about, starting with the Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balms which are cream blushers in stick form; oh so cute yet once the novelty factor wears off there’s plenty of substance remaining as these blusher sticks are absolutely lovely.
There are four shades forming the initial line-up of the Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balms, but I’m guessing more will be added considering how popular they’ve been so far. Continuing the theme of “Chubby-style” naming (whoever’s in charge of coming up with names must break into a cold sweat each time intended new Chubby launches are announced – I bet they thought it was a great idea when the original few Chubby sticks launched…) the four shades are Amp’d Up Apple – an extremely muted nude/mocha shade; Robust Rhubarb – slightly orange-leaning pink; Roly Poly Rosy – a “pinched cheek” red/pink and lastly Plumped Up Peony – a deeper berry shade.
It’s really hard for me to pick a favourite and I genuinely love all of them. Plumped Up Peony is probably the strongest of the four, and it’s very good at giving cheeks that healthy, post-exercise flush but it’s also one to avoid if you have spots scars, as is Roly Poly Rosy, as they both have strong red pigments that can show up any scarring.
Amp’d Up Apple is the one I’ve reached for most as it’s a very easy colour to wear which works really well with lazy-day make-up. It looks so natural and over a light base it’s very pretty. Robust Rhubarb is similar to Amp’d Up Apple in that it works well for dressed down make-up, but it’s also probably the most versatile of the four as it’s vivid yet muted enough to compliment strong lips or eyes too.
These are fab new arrivals to the Clinique make-up line. The formula is creamy, blendable and feels great on the skin, yet it’s oil-free so it shouldn’t upset any problem skin types and I certainly haven’t had any issues. The great thing about this formula is that it can be built-up to a really strong pop of colour or sheered out for a hint, so it’s great for all seasons and well worth checking out, especially if you’re not normally a fan of cream blushers as these are so easy to work with and all shades are extremely flattering.
