New Maybelline Lip Launches

September 8, 2014 · In: First Look, Make-Up, Reviews, Swatches

Last week I was perusing the Maybelline counter at my local Boots when I noticed a flurry of new lip launches that got me extremely excited. Pencils! Lipglosses! Tinted Lipbalms! Yet I thought to myself “You have more than enough lip products.  Put the matte fuchsia pencil down and back away from the stand”, which I promptly did and felt extremely pleased with myself.  Then I returned two days later and bought five things.  Five beautiful things that I have to show you today.

I’ll start with the product I’m least excited about which is the Baby Lips Electro.  Regular readers will know how much I love a tinted lip balm, yet for some inexplicable reason I just couldn’t get excited about the Baby Lips when they launched, even though everyone was going crazy for them – in fact I think I have a couple of unopened shades in my stash.

The Baby Lips Electro version are a little more appealing and I have to say that surpassed my expectations as they really deliver on both moisture and pigment.  The shade I picked up was Pink Shock and I wanted to get my hands on Strike a Rose too, but they’d run out.  The Maybelline site says there are 6 new neon shades, but I can only find four.  These are an insanely well-priced £2.99 here – link.

Next we have the biggest launch, which are the Maybelline Color Elixirs available in ten shades, some of which are seriously stunning.  These are hybrid products that deliver a gloss in a balmy texture with plenty of colour pigment – to me they’re a little bit like the Revlon Moisture Stains just without the stain element and instead with more gloss.

Maybelline Color Elixirs - Hibiscus Haven and Blush Essence

I picked up two shades, Hibiscus Haven – a blue-leaning bright fuchsia (right in the above picture) and Blush Essence – a muted pink that’s a really lovely take on a nude finish (left in the above picture).  These are £6.99 here – link.

Last are my favourites which are the Color Drama pencils which are creamy, matte lipsticks available in nine shades.  These are well worth checking out if you’re a fan of a matte lip as the finish is lovely, as are the shades available.

Maybelline Color Drama in Fuchsia Desire and In With Coral

I picked up Fuchsia Desire – a relatively muted magenta (right in the above picture) and my personal favourite In With Coral (left in the above picture) which I think most people will go a bit crazy for as it’s a very flattering take on coral; surprisingly orange yet muted enough to not look too in-your-face.  These are £4.99 a go here – link -which is money very well spent and these are truly fab.

There’s currently a 3for2 on Maybelline products at Boots so if you fancy trying any of these products then now is the time!

*I paid for these with the justification that they’d make for an awesome post.

These all look so lovely (and make an awesome post, your money was justified)! I spied the Color Drama pencils the other day and was quite intrigued as I’m a massive Matte lips fan, this post has just sold me on them. The colours you got are great!

    xx

THanks so much! Me too – I love matte lips as I think you can go for some really bright shades and they’ll still look muted and not too OTT. These are truly fab and well worth checking out xx
