The Nicky Clarke hair care range has recently launched onto Ideal World TV, and to mark the occasion I was sent the Nicky Clarke Volume Kit which contains 3 full-sized volumising products; Volume Shampoo, Volume Conditioner and Hair Raising Thicken and Shine Spray.
Firstly, shall we take a moment to appreciate the gorgeous packaging; isn’t it lovely? I really like the vintage-style, possibly even slightly masculine, apothecary-esque packaging that makes a lovely change to the usual pink and girly products you often find with hair care ranges…not that I have anything against pink and girly (obvs) but this is a lovely looking set! I’ve tried all three products and I’m very impressed – so much so in fact that I’ll be recommending them to my mum who has extremely fine hair.
The shampoo and conditioner provided great volume without that tacky, siliconey feel you often get with volumising products. The shampoo lathered just enough without feeling overly soapy and the conditioner provided a good hit of moisture, although if you like hair to feel slippery and deep conditioner after washing then you won’t find that here. The spray is easy to use and works well at adding an overall thick feeling to hair, and actually quite a bit of root lift too. Tread carefully with the spray as too much can give hair a bit of a greasy finish, but just enough (maybe 3-4 sprays into the roots) works a treat. I like this set very much; I haven’t tried Nicky Clarke products before but I’m definitely a fan as they’re effective, beautifully packaged and they add a little bit of luxury to my shower display. Nicky Clarke will be on Ideal World TV at 3pm, 6pm and 10pm on Wednesday 26th November (today!) if you fancy catching the man in action. The Volume kit can be found here – link – for £34.99 down from £45.

I am desperately trying to get some Nicky Clarke Hair Raising Lift Thicken and Shine Spray. My hair is so very thin and wispy it is the only product that is good for my h air. Please could you nhelp me to find out where I can purchase some. Or is there anything that would do the job. Ann Harper
HI Ann,
Thanks for your message and sorry to hear you’re having problems with your hair. I have no idea where you might find the Nicky Clarke product you mentioned, but I can recommend some other brands; Nanogen is apparently brilliant for thickening fine hair (they have various products that are all aimed at the same thing) or if you have the budget and are happy to commit, Kerastase do a range called Densifique which helps promote hair growth.
If you’re just seeking products to add a bit more oomph then John Frieda do a really good range of volumising products, plus so do Bumble and Bumble.
Hope this helps and please let me know if you need any more info xx
Hi Sascha, thankyou so much for your e mail, I will certainly look into all the products you mention. I have tried a few but none of them come even close to the Nicky Clarke one. I haven’t tried any of the ones you mention, so I will try them in turn and let you know the results.
