I’m fairly confident I started salivating when the bareMinerals Modern Pop collection came into my possession; a bareMinerals collection inspired by the 60’s containing gorgeously wearable nudes with all the packaging covered in polka-dots? I mean, REALLY? Anything inspired by the 60’s makes me happy as it is, add polka-dots and I’m like Teddy when his toes are tickled.
The bareMinerals Modern Pop collection focuses on lips and eyes, with three Marvelous Moxie lipsticks and a gloss top coat forming the lip collection, whilst the eyes are covered with a quad of shadows, a cream eyeliner and of course, being a 60’s inspired collection, a healthy dose of Lash Domination is needed.
Starting with the lips; the three shades are all variants of peach making them quite nude and very wearable, although not necessarily my sort of thing. Having said that, in the picture I’m wearing Express Yourself which is the brightest, most orange of the three and I like it a lot more than I thought I would. The other two shades are Dream Big which is the most traditional nude of the three and probably the best suited to this look and lastly Fall in Love which is a deeper, raisin shade.
Also in the lip line-up is the Cream Glaze Lip Topcoat which is a very clever product that I can see doing very well; you know when you want a milkier finish to a lip colour? Just add this on top and it can add that milkiness to, I’m guessing, pretty much any shade, but it’s particularly well suited to pinks, peaches and nudes which look good milked up.
Next are the eye products which I absolutely love. The Ready Eyeshadow 4.0 in The Modern Icon is just truly wonderful. It contains 4 shades that aren’t traditionally nude, yet they’re muted enough to wear everyday, easily. The press release describes them as “delicately vibrant” and I’d say that’s spot on – colour for those who don’t do colour. The four shades are, from top left of the palette (and in swatch order) Chic – a pale and slightly shimmering beige with a hint of pink; Carefree – a true peach shade that is just gorgeous; Sophisticate – a muted purple that’s my favourite of the four and lastly Exhale – a warm grey. These all work together so beautifully but also look pretty as individual shades, what a great edit!
There’s been quite a bit said already about the Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara, so I won’t go into detail other than to say that it’s an ideal fit for this look and in the above picture I wore this on upper and lower lashes, with two coats on both. The final piece in the collection is the Lasting Line Long Wearing Eyeliner in Classic Cream which I’m wearing on the lower waterline in the above picture.
This liner goes straight into my everyday kit as it’s so wonderful to wear – it lacks that stark white that can often look too unnatural, but it still gives that nude brightness that lighter shades along the waterline do, plus it’s very 60’s!
There we have it and what a collection it is. bareMinerals just get better and better in my opinion with Modern Pop being my favourite collection of theirs to date. There’s also some very exciting skincare on the way too which I’ll be sharing with you soon. bareMinerals Modern Pop launches in February 2015 with prices starting at £15 for the liner, £18 for the lipsticks and going up to £29 for the palette. The packaging is limited edition and you also get that beautiful pink lipstick holder in the above images with any of the lipstick you buy.
