There are so many joys to writing a beauty blog, with one of them being sent a collection of make-up to create a specific type of look. Not only is it fun to play with make-up, but it’s also nice to have my boundaries gently pushed into trying things I might not try. Boots No7 sent me a few make-up looks to play with and I thought I’d share one of them with you, especially as it involves using a couple of things that I normally would steer clear of. Other than brow pencil and a spot of powder on my shiny bits, everything used is from Boots No7.
First up are the base products which involved using the Stay Perfect Foundation and the Match Made Concealer, both in the Calico shade which really does match my skin perfectly. It’s been a while since I’ve used a product that isn’t designed to completely mask and cover, and even though you can see some of my most prominent post-spot scars, I really like how natural the finish is. I used the foundation all over before using the concealer under my eyes and on spots.
When I first saw the Blush Cream in Maple Syrup I thought the deep, auburn shade would look ridiculous on my pale complexion, but I actually really like it! It’s warmed up my skin and looks very natural, so I will be using it again. I then used the Instant Radiance Highlighter along the bridge of my nose, dent of my chin and top of my cheekbones as well as a little triangle between my brows.
Next up were eyes and lips. I used the Shade & Define pencil in Glistening Ray as an all over shadow – it’s a very creamy, easy to use product that glides on, stays put and doesn’t sink into creases, so I’ll be checking out the other shades. Then on to the scary product which was the Precise Liquid Liner; scary because it’s a brush liner which I ALWAYS struggle with as I end up loading up my lashes and drawing an awful, fat line. I wouldn’t say my application was perfect, but it was certainly much better than I expected! The shade used is Brown/Black – a very flattering colour for those who don’t like black liner.
Lastly on the eyes I went full speed ahead with the Lash Impact Mascara as I wanted big lashes to balance out the eyeliner and sparkly shadow. The mascara was actually better than I expected but you definitely need two coats to get big lashes. I will be using it again though as it worked well and came off easily. Finally, lips were finished with the High Shine Lip Crayon in Statement which is a gentle red. I’ve raved about the No7 lip crayons before as they have several different finishes and wear very well. The thing I love most about them is how buildable they are – you can go for a sheer wash or serious statement lips with just a few more slicks of the crayon. There we have it! All products are out now and available at Boots – link.
