One of my many (many, many…) diet downfalls is the lack of fruit and veg I include. Interestingly, I do actually like pretty much all fruit and most veg, but for some reason I’ve never been good at including it in my choices on a daily basis. A few weeks ago I saw an Instagram picture of a green smoothie and decided to go on a hunt for something similar that I could start consuming regularly with the hope that it would boost my chances at reaching five portions a day.
Enter Savse Smoothies! I came across these on Ocado and as they were (at the time, sadly not now) on offer I thought I’d give them a go. There are five flavours in total and I’ve tried three of them, two of which I adore. The two main things that I like about these smoothies is the fact that firstly, one small 25oml bottle gives you two of your five a day and secondly, the smoothies are a good mix of fruit and veg, meaning I’m getting quite a bit of variety and consuming veg I wouldn’t normally have regularly, such as beetroot, spinach and kale.
I have 250ml of a Savse smoothie every day and I alternate between the Cleansing smoothie (broccoli, spinach, kale and pear among others) and the Super Antioxidants (blueberry, kale, beetroot, spinach and more) because I find these the most palatable of the three I’ve tried. The other one I tried is the Antioxidant flavour which contains beetroot, apple, avocado and lime as the lead ingredients which I struggled with as the beetroot flavour is pretty dominant, which I’m just not a fan of. It’s also in the Super Antioxidant variant but thankfully not as strong. I will be trying the other flavours to see how they are, but in the meantime I really like these and I’m very happy to continue purchasing them, even though they’re a rather expensive way to do things so are best suited to those who don’t have the time/energy/inclination to blend their own. The Ocado prices at time of writing are £2.29 for 250ml or £3.99 for 750ml and you can find out more about the brand here – link.
