A little while ago I attended the launch of the Rodial make-up line (which is extremely good and well worth checking out – here’s my intro post) and the product I was most captivated by was the Eye Sculpt. During the launch I was given a make-up session with one of the Rodial Makeup Artists who showed me a great and easy make-up look using just this product and the Eye Smudge Brush.
The Rodial Eye Sculpt is a thick yet light (think mousse-like texture) ashy cream that can be used as a general contour all over the face. The Eye Smudge Brush is a relatively dense, medium-sized smudger brush that’s soft and pliable, meaning it can be used for quite a few different applications.
If you’re a fan of low-key make-up then I really recommend investing in this multi-use cream. The Rodial Make-Up Artist showed me how to use this for pretty much everything you see in the pictures above other than base, blush and mascara. I used it as an all-over contour for cheekbones, nose-slimming and shortening the length of my face. I then used it to fill in my brows before finally using it to contour my eyes; it’s applied into the socket and under the lower lashline. This was all done using the Eye Smudge Brush, so as you can see, it does perform a multitude of tasks.
The great thing about the Eye Sculpt is that it’s a very ashy tone, meaning it mimics the natural shadows on the face so it blends perfectly. The moussey texture also allows it to blend right down, meaning you can completely sheer it out if you like a natural finish, or build it up if you’re a fan of the highly sculpted look. Plus, it also can be used as a more traditional eye shadow…that’s a lot of uses!
If you’re someone who’s new to contouring or can’t quite get the hang of it, then this is a great one to try. It’s £34 which isn’t exactly cheap, but it’s decently pigmented so it should last quite a while, plus you can use it for everything and it’s a perfect product for travelling since it’s like the Swiss Army Knife of make-up products. The Eye Smudge Brush isn’t absolutely essential, but it does work really well alongside the Eye Sculpt, plus it’s also firm enough for diffusing strong make-up looks. It’s £24 here – link – and it feels and looks premium. The Eye Sculpt can be found here – link.
