Birchbox March 2015 is an interesting one, as it’s the first (that I can recall) box that’s allowing you to specify which sample you’d like. It’s also a collaboration with uber-posh homeware champions, Habitat.
There’s just one make-up item in the March 2015 Birchbox and the rest is a relatively good mix of beauty bits and bobs. There’s also a very handy 20% voucher for the SS15 Habitat collection. As usual, here’s a look at the contents in order of my favourites:
The item everyone’s going to get most excited about is the Benefit mascara. Not just because it’s a Benefit mascara, but also because new subscribers can pick which mascara they’d like out of Bad Gal, They’re Real or the newest addition, Roller Lash. It is a sample size, but it’s a great way to try out one of the Benefit mascaras without spending a fortune first. Before you get narky (like I did – ha!) the existing subscribers got to pick which sample they wanted a few weeks back apparently.
Next is the Philip Kingsley Smooth Cream. I love Philip Kingsley so I’m always happy to see an item from the range in a beauty box. This isn’t really designed for my hair type, but I will blimin’ well find a way to use it! I have days when I wash my hair and fall asleep and I wake up with crazy hair that sticks out in some very questionable directions, so I shall keep this Smooth Cream for such instances.
I might, *might* have to break my facial scrub ban to give this product a go, which is the Janjira Pomegranate & Acai Facial Scrub Cleanser. It’s very mildly grainy but it feels great on the skin and smells fab, so I’ll probably give this a whirl and just tread carefully.
I’m determined to make 2015 the year I start taking fake-tanning more seriously, so the arrival of the TanOrganic Self Tanning Oil should hopefully help with that; I do like the idea of an oil based self-tanner since I have such dry skin, plus I’m an oil fan in general.
The Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris perfume sample is so far down the list purely and simply because, as I’ve said in previous posts, I don’t like it when a teeny, tiny perfume sample is included because these are things we can go and pick up for free from perfume counters. It’s a nice scent though, so at least that’s working for it.
There are two lifestyle extras in the Birchbox March 2015 box, firstly the Birchbox & Habitat notebook which is very cute but unlikely to get used since I make all my notes in my phone notepad, and there’s also the first chapter of A Perfect Heritage by Penny Vincenzi. I didn’t actually notice this, hence the lack of picture, but I think it’s quite a good way of introducing new books to subscribers. More info on Birchbox can be found here – link.
*PR Sample
This is the most disappointing Birchbox I have ever had. The mascara is a miserable 30g, the perfume sample teeny, the Philip Kingsley is for frizzy hair ( mine isn’t) and is a 20ml sample and the notebook is pathetic 10x 6.5 cm. The novel sample is a throwaway free gift. Definitely not worth paying for
Oh that’s a shame 🙁 I know what you mean – beauty boxes in general can be very hit and miss xx
