…and now for something a little different; finally! The Birchbox July 2015 is a good’n, with great contents and a slightly different approach to the packaging, making it a fun, summery and enjoyable box (although it feels wrong calling it a box…) that I think most people will be pretty happy with!
As you can see from the pictures, there is no box, and instead there’s a bag, making this the first ever Birchbag. Birchbox have fully embraced the Summer theme with four summery colours of the bag available, each of which has been inspired by a summery place to visit; there’s orange inspired by St Tropez, Turquoise by the Greek Island of Hydra, Yellow by Somerset and the one pictured here, Pink for Ibiza.
I really like the July 2015 Birchbox! The contents is good and solid, with lots of things I’ll be happy to play with and the presentation is equally enjoyable. I also quite like the fact that it came in an envelope (I’m presuming that’ll be the same for everyone) so it caught me off-guard, meaning it’ll hopefully prove a very pleasant surprise for all subscribers. Anyway! Let’s have a look at the contents:
First up is the Pop Beauty Eyeshadow Trio in Peach Parfait, which is a lovely little collection of shimmery shades that are very summery, and very wearable. I’m assuming this is a full-sized product although it doesn’t say either way on the enclosed blurb. I’m a sucker for any kind of make-up applicator, especially sponges, so I’m very happy to see the Barely Prep, Blot and Blend Sponge included in the July 2015 Birchbox contents. First impressions are good, as it has that slightly silicone-like feel of a Beauty Blender (a favourite of mine) so I’m hoping this smaller sponge will make blending out tricky areas a breeze. The Jelly Pong Pong Glow Getter Luminizer Gel is a mid-beige/brown shade of higlighter that reminds me of a deeper take on Benefit’s High Beam, which can’t be a bad thing. With my presumption on the palette, all three products are full-sized.
I’ve heard really good things about the Balance Me Congested Skin Serum as it’s supposed to be quite a good (and gentle!) product for keeping breakouts at bay, so when my hormonal breakouts start kicking off again soon, I’ll be reaching for this. I can’t imagine anybody will be unhappy to see the Dream Screen from Benefit Cosmetics, but it’s a very small sample which is a bit of a shame! It has a very high SPF45 though so that’s handy. Finally, there’s the Unani Aloe Vera Gel which is the least exciting product of the bunch, but it’s functional and handy to have, especially with the blisteringly hot heat we’re currently having in the UK.
There isn’t a product here I wouldn’t use which makes me very happy as I feel like I haven’t been overly excited about any of the beauty boxes for a little while. The Birchbox July 2015 makes me want to run out and book a holiday – how great would it be to be planning your holiday when this little bag of goodies arrives on your doorstep?
