I’ve mentioned previously that the thing I really love about Avene is how, no matter what they product is designed for, I’ve never found them to cause me breakouts; a good example of this is the new Physiolift range, which is a collection designed to reduce lines and wrinkles, smooth skin, and just generally improve the signs of ageing. This is sort of range that I would normally bulk at, since hardcore anti-ageing, hydrating products are usually a nightmare for those of us with spot-prone skin, but Avene formulate their products so well that thankfully I’m yet to have a problem with anything I’ve tried.
There are five products in the Avene Physiolift range, two day creams (normal to combination or dry), one night cream, one eye product and one targeted wrinkle product. I’ve been trying out the Day Smoothing Cream for dry skin and the Night Smoothing, Regenerating Balm. I’ll start with the night treatment as it’s my least favourite of the two. Both products feel wonderful on the skin, nourishing, smoothing and very gentle, but the night treatment tends to bit and roll, which I find hugely off-putting in a product as I always think that if there’s something on the skin that isn’t absorbing and can me rolled away, it clearly doesn’t need to be in the product. Having said that, as I mentioned, it’s a lovely night treatment so if it sounds like your sort of thing and you’re not put-off by rolling bits, then this is well worth a go. It’s £26 here – link.
Next up is the Day Smoothing Cream, which is an awesome product that also smooths, hydrates, plumps and generally brightens skin without leaving any residue – it’s got a bit of a primer-like feel to it, so it might have silicones in there, but they haven’t caused me any problems. Consequently, it’s brilliant under make-up and it really does feel lovely on the skin. I like the fact that there is an emulsion formula that’s lighter and aimed at combination skin types, however, if you’re dry, dehydrated or using any acne meds that dry you out, this is a fabulous one to try. It’s £25 here – link – and there’s 3for2 at Boots if there’s anything else you fancy. It’s also worth pointing out that the products are supplied in airless pump tubes for hygiene, which I think is a great touch. It’s a lovely little range that’s really well suited to my age group, so I hope they extend it include more – a mask would be amazing!
