I’m currently road-testing what can only be described as a barrage of beauty newbies at the moment, so I’ve put together some posts looking at what’s new whilst I work my way through it all and decide what to share. As someone with rubbish skin, I’m always excited by a new foundation, as I need all the help I can get to achieve a perfect base. There are quite a few new base launches coming our way, so here’s a look at three that I’m excited about:
I absolutely love the original Beautifully Matte Foundation from Boots No7, and I think it’s one of the most underrated, high street foundations available, so I was very excited to hear that there’s newness afoot in the Beautifully Matte line. Firstly, the original Beautifully Matte Foundation has been “improved” which I hope means only good things – having experienced disappointment from “improved” formulas before, I’m a little cautious – plus there’s also now a Beautifully Matte Light Foundation, which is, as the name suggests, a base with a lighter texture that keeps skin matte and lightly covered. I’m still awaiting my shade of both the new foundations, so I’ll update when I have personal experience to share. The Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint has got everyone a bit excited and so far I’m yet to read a negative word about it. It’s a cushiony, velvety, blurring product that provides light to medium coverage and, as the name suggests, a matte finish. It’s also available in a really decent 12 shade selection that covers both the very pale and the very dark, so hopefully most people will be able to find a good shade match. It contains skincare goodies such as Vitamin C and E, plus a nice, high SPF of 30. It’s the perfect winter formula as it gives a matte finish without looking chalky or dry, so it’s ideal for those who lean oily or combination, but I’m not sure if it would be a bit too matte for dry skin types. I’ll share my thoughts soon, but in the meantime, it’s available now from Space NK – link – and launches everywhere else at the start of March 2016 for £30.
Knowing that the brand has quite a luxury price point, I was expecting the Eisenberg Invisible Corrective Makeup foundation to be a lot more expensive than it is at £33. I’ve been reaching for this quite a lot recently as it gives very good coverage and leaves skin with a blurred and dewy finish, plus the lightest shade is a perfect match for my skin tone. It promises 12 hours of wear and an SPF25 in a non-comedogenic and oil-free formula. The shade range isn’t great at just five shades, but the palest is great for me and hopefully there’ll be more shades added at some point. It’s available now here – link.
