Aesop is another one of those skincare brands where everything I’ve tried I’ve loved, and there really is a lot to love! They do some of the loveliest masks available, all beautifully packaged in apothecary-style, brown glass bottles with simple text that tells you everything you need to know. I’ve been completely converted to gel masks recently, since I think they are ideal for skin types that suffer from a number of issues, such as those who are both dry and spotty, or sensitive and oily, or any combination of the above. Consequently, I was very pleased to crack open the Aesop Blue Chamomile Facial Hydrating Masque and find it was in gel form.
The Aesop Blue Chamomile Facial Hydrating Masque is a cooling and hydrating mask with a strong lavender fragrance. I really like the pump-action bottle, which is quite a rare find for mask packaging. You use it by simply applying a layer and leaving it on for as long as you like – the recommendation is 30 minutes but you can definitely go for longer without any issues. You can then either wash it off, or use a cotton pad soaked in toner to remove any remaining residue. I personally find the latter approach of most benefit to my skin as I think washing it off can undo some of the good work. It contains Niacinamide which is a great ingredient for tricky skin, especially those who are spot-prone. This just feels like a great all-rounder that would benefit most skin types, and is particularly great for when skin is feeling stressed, sensitive, parched or you’ve overdone it with the acids. I’m currently giving myself a chemical peel treatment each week and I like to follow with something both hydrating and soothing like this. You can find the Aesop Blue Chamomile Facial Hydrating Masque here – link – for £33.
