I am totally horrified to be talking about May 2016 already, especially since it arrives in a couple of weeks! Where is 2016 going?! Thankfully, we’re now seeing the Spring and Summer launches pop up everywhere, and the new arrivals from Maybelline are a very good example of the sort of things you’ll want to immediately add to your lust list. I was lucky to be given a sneaky look at these launches, so you’ll have to forgive me for not knowing all the facts yet, but I’ll update as soon as I do. The lead products are the lip launches, but there are also some great skin colour arrivals too, as well as two new mascaras to get your teeth into, so let’s start with those:
The Falsies Push Up Drama arrived earlier this year, and it’s a fantastic mascara for giving lashes length and lift. Perfectly timed, then, is the Waterproof version which will be handy for beach days, swimming and sweating – basically all the things we do more of in the warmer months. The next mascara is the Lash Sensational Luscious Full Fan Effect which is a fantastically dramatic mascara that gives lashes that full, defined, fanned-out finish, which in fairness, a lot of mascaras attempt to achieve but very few succeed at, but this one really is great.
Now onto the face launches, of which there are two main ones, starting with the Master Contour V-Shape Duo Stick Contour & Highlight, which is pretty much as the name suggests – a cream stick with highlight on one side and contour on the other, meaning you can contour quickly and easily. The formula is lovely and blendable, with just the right level of sheen to ensure a natural, skin-like finish. The other face launch is the Face Studio Blush, which I need to fact check on as I can’t find much online, other than a couple of shades on the Superdrug site, which tells me that these will be £4.49 each. The two shades I have are the beautifully bright Dare to Pink and the gently nude Pink Amber – and check out the fancy, sliding lid packaging!
The first of the lip launches is the newest member of the Baby Lips family, the Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Gloss. Going by the info on the American site, there will be 12 of these glosses available, most of which are pink or nude leaning, making them absolutely perfect for Summer. I have four of the shades, and whilst I haven’t fully put them through their paces yet, I can say with confidence that they are creamy, hydrating and exactly the sort of finish you need to pair with dewy, sun-kissed skin and a slick of mascara – these glosses make me pine for a week away!
I do love to save the best ’til last, so let me introduce you to the new Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquids. These are stunning! Comfortable and creamy to wear, extremely pigmented and just the right side of matte, so you get that wonderful matte finish and payoff without any of the horrid dryness. These also last like you wouldn’t believe – I swatched them last night (I’ll follow-up with a feature on them ASAP) and two scrubs and a shower later you could still see the stains that only an oily cleanser could remove. As I write this, I am wearing the Berry Boost shade which is a stunning, deep pinky red, and I think everyone is going to find the shade range very exciting as they’ve totally nailed it, covering everything from nude, to pink, to coral, to red, to berry. The American site shows 10 shades and I’ve got eight, so I don’t know if that means we’ll get the full 10 or not, but I hope so as they are fantastic! I can really see them becoming cult products and I can’t wait for them to launch.
Everything should be available by this time next month, and things are starting to roll out now, so keep your eyes peeled for all these glorious new arrivals.
