The Glossybox December 2016 is a bold move, as it’s all built around the one product (a lipstick) so it’s all make-up, all of which is designed to give you an almost full look-in-a-box; I love the concept (although it needs a bit of work since there’s no eye products) and I would love to see more of these types of Glossyboxes!
The December 2016 Glossybox contains five products, all of which are full-sized and all of which work in harmony together. As mentioned, the box is designed around the lipstick which is a very exciting inclusion as it’s an MDM Flow lipstick, a brand who I’ve heard lots of good things about (I’ve also just checked their website and they now have the most beautiful collection of liquid lipsticks – those pinks! – look at them here – link) so I’m keen to get stuck-in and see what all the fuss is about. Here’s a closer look at the Glossybox December 2016 contents:
Of course I’m going to lead with the MDM Flow Lipstick which comes in the shade Vamp, an aptly named vampy plum shade that supposedly suits all skin tones; I’m looking forward to putting it to the test as it’s a great colour. The Essence Light Up Your Face Lumizer Palette looks promising – my experience of Essence is pretty limited, but I’ve heard only good things. The Collection Cosmetics Define & Perfect Eyebrow Powder threw me off at first, as I opened it up without looking at what it was and started swatching before thinking how dry it was for an eyeliner…then once I realised it was for the brows I was actually pretty happy to have it, as I do love me a good brow product.
The Revlon Nail Enamel in Valentine has obviously been chosen to coordinate with the lipstick. Lipcote is a product I have a weird relationship with as I remember it from my teen years and it was terribly unpleasant to use, but I understand it’s come a long way since then, so I will give it the benefit of the doubt and give it another whirl. I really like the whole concept of the box and I hope they do something similar again soon – maybe a whole eye look or a themed skincare box – as I enjoy this sort of thing and I think a lot of other people do too; it’ll be really interesting to see what everyone else thinks this month! I know that there are nude shades of lipsticks in some boxes too, so it’ll be especially interesting to see whether the products have been adjusted accordingly.
